  1. ah! new it was you. :upyeah:

  2. You have always been polite to me Rob :)

  3. Could there be a technical members only thread that can only be accessed by those with technical knowledge over the years and they can add people who need that info
That way they don't need to trawl through rubbish :)

  4. I don't think that would work/would be fair Viv - none of us have got the right to say who is/isn't technically capable or superior on here (although some try) and it could make people feel patronised - smacks too much of snobbery in disguise to me.

  5. ive never understood why people go on a bike forum to discuss anything but bikes? surely it should 90% ducati related and 10 % other crap from each poster. Fair enough a bit of other stuff might get in the way but i just dont get it

  6. it's whatever floats your boat isn't it? - bit risky - but someone ought to do a Poll as I think it would surprise a few.

  7. If i wanna talk about ducati related stuff -ducati forum
If i wanna talk about pushbikes -bikerader
if i wanna talk bollocks - my mates
if i wanna talk and not be heard -mr mrs

Talk about any of the topics in the wrong section and ill not get much in response back ......

  8. moved to Speakers Corner ;)

  9. I love some banter. Who doesn't? Right place right time. And without the trolls who bring the same comment into every thread. I can do without that.

I've found myself trolling one guy a bit recently because he's been doing it to me and cple others for ages. I tend not to but sometimes you've just had enough and ignore doesn't work on tapatalk Not big nor clever,.,,

  10. Is this the beginning of the end, then? Seems to be quite a few little grievances being aired,a little bit of MOD criticism creeping in,a few names being bandied about...
I come on here to be entertained,or to find something out,or occasionally to buy stuff that other like-minded people want to get shot of...and so far, this site hasn't failed to live up to my expectations.
There are people on my ignore list:for one reason or another the picture they paint of themselves is not one that I find attractive,so rather than get uptight about it and angrily respond to their contributions,it's easier to just hit the button.
And I'm sure I am on other peoples ignore list too,I'm certainly not beyond keeping a thread going long after it has outstayed it's welcome,or banging on and on about my particular set of principles. And as for going off topic, sometimes I need a GPS to find my way back....
Maybe for that/those reasons,I'm not bothered about a few off the cuff side roads...it helps to paint a picture in my mind of the Contributor, after all we are all human beings on here and it's unlikely I'll meet many of you personally.
(I'm sure most of you are very nice people though).
As he has said,El T can't please everyone all the time...but he's a human being,he's doing his best, and if he's got friends on here, well, thats a good thing, because he's put himself up for a gig that many of us wouldn't want,(including myself)...it's human nature that he MAY treat his buddies a little differently, but it's also human nature for those outside his circle to think they are somehow disadvantaged...suspicions and feelings aren't necessarily facts though are they?
At the end of the day, this is all just a bit of other-world fluff to drag us away from the real one, when we can't get out on our bikes....it ain't perfect, just like the real world.
I'd rather it didn't change for the sake of a few,(what seem pretty minor* to me),irritants.
As I've said before,I like it here. And I like the majority of on-line personalities on here. And because real people in real life don't suit me perfectly,I don't expect everyone on here to suit me perfectly either.Or the other way round.
    Like Goldilocks porridge,it's just right.
*apart from the spelling...I mean,I'm far from perfect but...*moan*....*grumble*....:Angelic:

  11. nah, it's not the beginning of the end, just one or two on their period, see the thing is, and it really is this simple, if you don't enjoy being here, don't be here. simples.

  12. Who got banned?

  13. nah not really, the clique as you keep calling it is quite an insult depending on where you come from. i like a bit of banter, which is primarily why i am here,so i guess i am on your list.
there is no clique. there is deffo a group of people of which i am one that can handle a laugh and take no insult when interrupted. you have made your point maybe time to let it go.

  16. Just wait until the scrambler owners all arrive on here. We'll be wishing all the drivel back instead of discussion on turned up trousers, curly moustaches, and how to be hip.....

And ET won't sort them out either as he'll be their leader too lol

  17. multiple posts have been removed from it today probably as a direct result of your earlier posts Steve so things have happened - past tense, shall we look to the future now?

  18. I for one am glad when someone posts how they feel about the forum. It's useful to know when people are harbouring resentment - nothing worse than having no idea how unpopular you are.

I've been on forums that are ruled with a grip of iron, and others where there was no moderation whatsoever. I have enjoyed being on both kinds, for different reasons. This forum here, our beloved Ducati Forum, is pitched squarely in the middle.

Modern forums are great, you can tune in or tune out as you wish - and with the Ignore Forum and Ignore Thread facility, things have gotten even better. The problem comes when there are posters who post some stuff you want to read but they also post a load of drivel - this is often called a low signal-to-noise ratio. Then, you need to make a decision - turn that poster off or put up with them. To actually try and cajole that poster into becoming something they are not seems rather arrogant to me but fair play for trying to do it. You don't ask, you don't get.

For myself, I make a conscious effort to avoid clogging the tech threads with dross. I may sometimes contribute wrongly, or incompletely, but sorry, I do my best and unless you want to pay for my technical training, that's the best you get. I do slip occasionally on the off-topic stuff but I don't believe I do much of that - certainly I do a lot less now than a year ago. I have even taken to responding in an off-topic way to some in-tech threads by putting my reply into the Lounge - that seems fair to me.

In the end though - the Ignore Poster button is there, use it. That works better and more consistently than trying to control people directly - which is presumptuous ... but, ah hell, go for it.

  19. I'm only a guest here, I don't believe I should have a say in how others should post or not, however no one that uses this site annoys me. Its certainly a diverse range of users, with different opinions, expertise and personalities. Its what makes forum good.
I doubt there is any intent to annoy.
