Thieves disabled the communal lift on the second floor and then used the lift shaft to climb down into the basement where the safety deposit business was based Bored holes through the two-foot thick vault wall measuring 50cm deep, 25cm high, 45cm wide and sits 89cm above the floor. 70 safety deposit boxes taken in an operation lasting two nights. Police failed to respond to a burglar alarm on Good Friday. Undisturbed over the bank holiday weekend thieves returned twice to collect deposit boxes Police have only managed to contact 6 deposit box owners No arrests yet made Which begs the question, what the hell did they steal?! Why have only 6 people come forward?
There is speculation it was an inside job............. ..........I would have thought it was obvious.......... There's walls, a floor and a ceiling.............so in my mind, that makes it inside.
No one was hurt. It was a bloody epic job, I know theft is wrong blah blah blah but cmon, Hollywood would have trouble beating this one! FairPlay to them for their ingenuity and bravado. It'll be made into a film soon...
I think we all know the answer. The deposit boxes mainly contained the proceeds of fraud, income undeclared for tax purposes, stolen property, blood diamonds, unlaundered money, stashes of drugs, and material used for blackmail. The depositors are trying to make up their minds what to allege was in the boxes before they make their perjured statements to the police. Obviously.
