  1. Who's going to cough being one of the seven and a half million people in this country ( well thats the official figure..) that are not registered to vote..........

    • Drama Queen Drama Queen x 1
  2. dunno but half of them had safety deposit boxes at Hatton Cross apparently

    • Funny Funny x 1
  3. ...and the other half apparently had no passport or identity documents.......

  4. Not me,I've already voted...
Because I never know where I'm going to be on voting day,my missus sorts out postal voting for the both of us.
So done and dusted last week, local and general.
There really is no excuse for not voting,if you are eligible

  5. I hear this bullshit from time to time, but am yet to hear a good argument for it?

If you have come to the conclusion that all politicians are more or less the same and that voting for one or the other makes absolutely zero difference to you or anyone else, then what do you do? Put the names in a hat and pull one just for voting sake and support this farcical system that is governing our lives?

  6. I looked up "disenfranchised" in the dictionary and the entry just said:

I sympathise, I no longer believe that there is a genuine choice of candidates with general elections.

The same kind of people sit in Parliament, all working to more or less the same game plan, but with different packaging, slightly different flavour and maybe a different soundtrack. Labour/Conservative/pepperami/four cheeses toppings, it's all the same pizza.

  8. Well, disenfranchised implies that you were at some point enfranchised..

But yes, I don't think the people hold any power what so ever. The people governing us are however very good at maintaining the illusion, looking at the amount of people that are actually bothering to turn up and vote.

  9. I've lost my car keys, though.......

  10. Sorry,Fred11,I didn't make myself very clear.
My point was not whether you should vote or not, only that the opportunity to do so is there for those that do,i.e,saying you can't get to the voting station/you are going to be on holiday is no excuse for not voting.

  11. I believe that the people hold all the power, its just that most don't realise it. Some don't care or are stupid but lets ignore those.

We have the power to stop, reverse or instigate ANY policy we choose within days.

  12. The 'people' have no power at all, that's been shown over and over.

I didn't register and I'm not voting. I honestly cannot see the point; it doesn't matter who you vote for, all the parties are looking after the same interests. And that ain't us.

  13. I'm tending to agree with you as I agree on some issues with all parties but not all issues with one party, if you follow my drift.

Although it has been stated that if all the none voters voted for the same party, they would hold an instant majority.

I think PR was a missed opportunity.

  14. I've written to many MPs and euroMPs over the years over various subjects, but normally concerning the forthcoming implimentation or tightening of one law or another (type approval for bikes in Europe being the last one). And of the few direct replies I've received (normally you just get a standard 'we have noted your concern' type letter), every MP has declared that they are fighting for my corner and will pull out all the stops to put an end to this draconian step - and so far every single one of them has failed...

  17. So if enough people go onto the streets and say "X is not happening and we are not moving until its changed" you think nothing will change.

Example: Poll tax, the Berlin wall, communism for fek sake.

Extreme examples requiring extreme action. Name some more mundane stuff...
