1200 Warranty, Can I Swap Dealers?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by jcmental, Apr 26, 2015.

  1. As the title suggests, I'm wondering if I can switch getting my warranty work done to a different dealer?

I bought my bike in November 2013 as a 2014 model From DMC Moto Preston. I paid out right for it and along with it an extra years warranty. I'm thinking this was my mistake.

Ok I've had a few of the usual jobs done clocks, start button...ect but other than big things like that when ever I've asked for smaller faults to be remedied I get the "Yes we can do that under warranty" or "Ducati know of the fault but their not doing anything about it yet".
If I'm lucky I get I'll order the parts, then each time I phone to get an update I get:-
    a) "I've got them on order"
    b) "I think it's in let me check and get back to you." and they don't.
It's getting to the stage now where I feel like I'm just being a pain and they are fobbing me off just to get me off the phone.

This is my Brake rez, I've asked several times to have this replaced, a) because it leaks and sprays me with tiny drops of brake fluid, and b) when I put her to bed it drips on my paint work and plastics. If you look closely you can see fine droplets and I haven't ridden her for 3 weeks because I'm waiting for a new stand switch witch they were going to order and "rush" to me by post.

My fork leg, I was stupid enough to fit my own cable clip to stop it from rubbing my inside fork. I asked if I could get a new fork under warranty and he looked and said "Well it's not that bad I don't thin Ducati would replace it for just that"

My corroded casing, once again "It's not bad enough for Ducati to replace. just don't use anything corrosive on it."

And finally a big bugbear for my. My number plate bulb had blown, I cant replace it because there is no tab on the bulb cover to allow me to open it. I have an LED one to replace it but cant get it in. I've asked and asked but have never got one.

  2. Your warranty is valid at any dealer in the UK, or Europe for that matter.

    • Agree Agree x 1
  3. You will likely find some resistance as warranty work is only paid half the labour rate. However any dealer interested in getting a new customer; ie a good one will be happy to oblige.

  4. Sounds like a crap dealer to me

Take your business elsewhere , and as for the warranty, any Ducati dealer will recognise that

  5. As usual it pays (so too speak) with fellow bikers to get the low down.

  6. I did I was told not to go to the dealer I was going to use.
See the copy of a pm below. He was right of coarse J&L tried to sell me an old stock bike just before the sky hook came out. So I didn't use them.
I just feel at the moment that if I had bought it on that tri options thing they would still be as accommodating and helpful as they were when I paid for the bike.

  7. DMC? part of Ducati manchester I believe. I have avoided them for many years (from even before they moved to the chav tastic place they now sell things from)

  8. Yeah Ducati Leeds is looking very tempting at the moment.

  9. Hi jc mental,
I was looking at buying my Multi from DMC Moto (20 mins from my house)but to be honest they didn't inspire me with confidence with regards to after sales service
Went to Ducati Leeds who have been brilliant in every way.
It's a longish ride for me (just north east of Preston)
and even further for you, however we're a bit stuffed living in this neck of the woods.
    Good luck

  10. re the number plate lamp cover, my dealer says they break so often they keep them in stock - warranty replacement - no problem

  11. Mine don't, I'm sick of asking

  12. reckon half of that isn't warranty anyway-is it a case of not getting the answer you want to hear

  13. Fork legs are being replaced under warranty , no brake fluid should be leaking at all as long as you haven't tampered with the system ? Number plate lights go regularly and is known to happen, due to vibrations. Any dealer worth their salt will admit to these points and sort them in a few days.

  14. Bought my Mutley from DMC Moto back in 2012 but as I live half way between I've had servicing and warranty work done at both Ducati Manchester and DMC with no problems at all.
Forks have been replaced when they couldn't cure the Ohlins rattle; radiator replaced because of paint bubbling; fuel level sensor replaced ( out of warranty) all with no quibbles at all.

  15. That's my point, I get told they will sort it but it's like once I've left the shop they cant be bothered, I know some of it seems trivial but I paid for an extra years warranty and 17k+ for the bike. For that sort of money you'd think they would try to make an effort, who knows in a years time I may of wanted an updated mutly, but I can say because of there attitude I wouldn't ever get one from DMC MOTO that's for sure.

  16. Had an interesting phone call today while I was at my dads, it was Andy from DMC moto. He said a customer told him about this post so he thought he'd phone to tell me in person that my warranty is valid at any Ducati dealer anywhere in the world.
To be fair he was very apologetic and told me several times that he was sorry.
He asked what problems I was complaining about, so I told him about the lens I've tried to get replaced every time I visit and the brake rez that I've also asked for since last June (just a note there's only a little bit of fluid left in the rez the rest of the space has been taken up by the diaphragm,(and before you say are your pads worn I put new sinterd ones in 5k ago) and the stand switch I asked for after a humiliating lift home by Mr Greenflag a month ago.
So the upshot is he's doing his best to get me those parts asap, I'm not sure if I'll get the fork leg replaced or the casing though, I'm guessing I'll have to take the bike all over the country to find a dealer that will replace them, or may be do a deal, if they replace them using the warranty I'll get my 15k service done at the same time that's only 3k miles away I'll probs do that in a few weekends.
