If you didn't see this superb film last night, here's an opportunity to see it again on iplayer. Watch a artisan create a knife. Of special interest to anyone who appreciates thousand year old skills. Highly reccommended. BBC iPlayer - Handmade - 2. Metal
Just watched the last bit on Iplayer John.I dropped off last night watching it.Brilliant piece of craftmanship-the one before about glass was also worth watching.Nice to watch something without the usual commentary drivel.
Saw the glass one too. I get so much pleasure watching a master craftsman at work. In another life I would have loved to be a glass blower!
Caught half of this yesterday, the craftsmanship and the method of filming were right up my street also John - could this be something to do with your choice of handle on here?
I blew my own wine glass once, it turned out very thick, more goblet really but I like it a lot - it wobbles when you spin it
^ always wanted to have a go at that but I'm sure I would cock-up the first one if not the tenth one.
I did cock it up, but it's somehow better for it - the bowl of the glass is about 5mm thick and it doesn't hold as much as it should I worked at a modern glassworks when I left school in 1981 and they sent us on a weeks traditional glass blowing course in Sunderland I think it was.
