BBC in 'advanced talks' with Guy Martin for Top Gear role | Bike Social So - the latest gossip is : Jodie Kidd, Phillip Glenister and Guy Martin... Does anyone believe it ? Would anyone watch it ?
TG, like it or loath it, is Clarkson, Hammond and May, it is as much about them as it is the cars. To try to recreate that with other presenters would be difficult at best. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch TG, it was well past it's sell by date. I would probably watch a New TG to see what it was like then make a decision as to whether to follow it or not.
I no longer watch Top gear it lost its appeal long ago for me and the Argentia episode clinched it for me. I cannot see Phillip Gleinister in the role as he already has a programme on one of the Documentary channels. He also doesn't seem to come across as much of an expert or really have any apparently (decent!) role in the series that he is in already. In my opinion he is just there as a figurehead to give the series more credibility. I saw Jodie Kidd on Masterchef a while back and she seemed to be quite animated and determined in that but again I can't see her in a role in Top Gear either. Guy Martin would need to brush up on his camera skills a bit and stop repeating himself quite so much. The classic recently was when he was guesting in a Supersport race at brands and spent more time talking about his need for a haircut than giving James Haydon his views on his one off ride.
Not sure that any of they could carry it off, be better to drop the show and start again with different format and presenters
I don't think any of them are "car nuts" enough to warrant presenting it.....one thing about all three of the previous presenters - they were all passionate about cars...and it showed. Not sure the prospective 3 could carry that off....although as much as I don't like him, guy martin could make it work....
I can believe it. Wouldn't watch it. Sounds like a car-based version of Countryfile. Blue Peter for grown-ups. No thanks.
Today's gossip - things are a foot... Top Gear stars have 'secret meeting' with ITV – Daily TV round-up - Yahoo TV UK
My suggested new TG team, all of whom should be in the market for some work: Ed Balls George Galloway Natalie Bennett
And a new weekly feature to replace "Star in a reasonably priced car" - 3 rounds in a boxing ring with Jeremy Clarkson.
May not have to pay it at all soon. The Tories are out for revenge for all those years of leftist bias.
