Riding home from work last night, got cut up by car entering roundabout to my left and then decided to stop. No ABS on the 999, emergency stop using rear bumper of car. Next i'm in agony on the road. Bike still running and all i can do is look at it, landed on my left shoulder and felt it break. Next thing i heard was chap saying are you ok didn't see you. After 5 hours in A&E they sent me home with pocket full of pain killers and arm in sling. Doc say's 3 to 4 weeks to heal. Will be hard going to look at the damage on the 999, My thanks to biker who stoped and stayed with me for about an hour till ambulance scooped me up.
Sorry to hear it mate, hope you are ok. Amazing how people don't see or hear us, but it happens. I have a theory every car driver should be made to do some sort of one day motorbike test, would make the roads 100% safer (probably).
I feel your pain ouchhhh Bloody car drivers!!! I think they should pass a bike test so they are at least aware that bikes do use the road As for your shoulder it's agony but once your allowed to move it do so otherwise you could end up with it freezing and that hurts too Get well soon oh and you may cry when you see your bike I was gutted
Sorry to hear this. What a pain in the backside. Hope you make a rapid recovery and get your bike fixed up. Its surprising how strong motorbikes are. Ive managed to repair mine after all sorts of mad crashes in the past. Worse being a 120mph highside which ended up with the bike somersaulting down the tarmac and having its whole back end ripped off as it bounced off the crash barrier. 4 weeks later I had the bike back on the road & running again!
Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope you heal soon. Whenever I have had a crash/mishap I find it therapeutic to take the opportunity to do some sneaky upgrades to the bike...takes some of the pain away!
How about asking someone to collect some of the fragments from your 999 and inserting the sharpest of those into one of the drivers orifices, as a reminder to look where the f**k they are going in future. I trust they will be charged with driving without due care and attention, or is that too much to hope for, as a suitable punishment for the myopic twat.
Shitter, its the knock on effects that are most annoying. Repairing a bike is one thing, having to learn to dress with broken limbs & cook & shower etc is the tough part I've always found.
Hope you heal quickly and your bike isn't as bad as you think it is When drivers pass their test in a car,it should be law that they use a bike for the first year. You could wear all the Hi-Viz you can get,and they still won't see you......cos they're not looking!! They don't look further than the windscreen of the metal box they're in.
Well one person has discussed the scientific reason behind the SMIDSY scenario. What an RAF pilot can teach us about being safe on the road & please feel free to download the PDF version https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90471/1211 Road Survival Guide Final.pdf
Chin up Bazzer, price we pay for riding on today's road's I'm afraid, me had a close shave the other week, check out my thread, get well soon! P.s. Scares the hell out of me.
