You are tightening the allen headed bolt down the middle?

 

Hey, thanks for getting back to me Yeah I was turning it for some time(!) and nothing seemed to be happening, was that all you did? Insert it into the bar and and tighten?

 

The two halves need to slide up against each other. Tighten things up slightly before inserting in the bar end

I bought one of these for my 1198

Techmount 70053 53mm Specialty Euro Motorcycle GPS Mount

 

It fits over the top of the fork leg and positions my Sat Nav over the centre of the top yoke.

 

If anyone's still after a decent mount, I've got this on my 848 for my Garmin 350:


It replaces the thingie in the yoke. Onto this you mount the specific holder for your sat nav.

Any other suggestions for a phone mount on an 1198?

I prefer my phone in portrait; Duc Daz does your's give enough clearance to the tank if the phone is in portrait?

 

Forgive the necropost good buddies, I know it's almost 11 years since this thread was last commented on... I'm planning to install my Zumo XT on my 1098 - there's a mount Evotech do for the 848 which I'm about to ask them is it compatible witht he 1098 (I don't see why not), but my main question is; where is the best place to take power from? Is there switched power supply on here?
