Did you really expect a lawyer to help for free...even a ducati riding one? Having run a few business over the years I've had to comply with the act. I'm no expert, but I can give you an opinion.
you can mention sale of goods act when asking for your money back for faulty goods but some retailers will not budge on their position of refusing refunds for faulty goods, my experience with Jessops was they called in security to remove me from shop and when that failed they called in the police and when that failed the police told Jessops to refund the money and stop wasting their time it took several months and complaints to trading standards but I did get my money back in the end
If you bought something on Barclaycard less than 12 months ago, get in touch with them..........they soon sort things out.
I once had a lawyer on another car based site claim to give me £250 of free legal advise. Interesting, as he was completely wrong, I reckon his free advice was worth exactly what I paid for it.. I spoke to a family friend, and got my 'completely unwinable' situation (which turned out to be bang to rights on my side) resolved in a matter of days under the sale of goods act.
