Hi. Looking for some advice on mirrors for the 821 Don't like the stock mirrors and was looking to replace them with bar end mirrors. Don't want to lose the handguards though. Does anyone know of any that will fit whilst retaining the guards? Thanks Scoobs.
I have a bar end type mirror on my 999 to supplement the existing mirror. It is made by Oberon and is called a Streetfighter mirror. It is designed to replace your existing bar end weight and can be fitted either on top, below or sticking out of the end of the bar. Mine is fitted on top and is the smaller of the two sizes available. Downside is that is a long way from your normal line of sight but so is the speedo...
Mounted bar end mirrors to my 939SP. Had the 821 and that is one thing I didn't changed but now finally made it. Did mount other mirrors on the normal position, and ended up not liking them. So I went for the Highsider Victory EVO bar end ones. If you do the pair you only need to invert one between the stem bar that holds the mirror and the adapter it is straight forward. What was not that straight forward is that these come with several rings and parts to suit all inner sizes of bars. So the 2nd smallest was the one for the hyper. Did tried it and was not sure it did held it into position right. Instead I took the OEM bolt and its two bushings that hold the bar end in place. It worked well and it holds it firmly into position. Now I am finally happy and feel it goes better with the bike. Just to add, did this because I like to have good visibility behind me. Also like not to move much the head in order to look into the mirrors. Of course I do apply life savers and turn my head as well but, once I look ahead I have the habit of quickly look into the mirrors. With the second set I had (barracuda ones) I've lost this and could not see much other than to the sides or my arms. Now finally can really see and complete the view of a car (even a bike) following me with the two mirrors so it is great IMO. I know some do like only one mirror etc. This position suits me the best.
