I'd prefer money to be spent on the road surfacing. This shit is a waste of public funds. Bullshit nonsense. Ffs get the roads sorted then tell me why my fucking bike wants to Go off the road because I hit the pothole or farmer dumped shit. I'm actually getting to the point that I forget and don't give a flying hamster.
The A814 from Garelochhead and Arrochar is something akin to that, don't know if El T and the lads explored it when in the area. It runs for a few miles along Loch Long and its a riot of switchbacks and turns. However its narrow and very poorly surfaced in sections. 2 events spring to mind. First was when I came around a corner on it, to find one of these fuck off great camper/stately homes on wheels, right across the whole road on a blind bend trying to wedge what was clearly a gallon into a pint pot, as the thing was never going to into the space off the side of the road he'd picked and he had bugger all room to turn as the van was at least the same length as the road width. Second one was just as the road enters the lochside there is a series of switchbacks which if taken at anything over 40 will launch the bike. So I come over one, fortunately not at my usual pace (which is still only around 40-50) and here in the dip (totally hidden), with no previous warning, is a guy with a Stop/Go lollipop (they were cutting the verges further up). Just to spice it up he's pointing the Stop bit towards me and if I don't stop I'm going to be carrying him as forward pillion. Managed to get the plot stopped about 3 feet from him. Best bit was, I was shitting masel, I barely got it stopped and when I did I nearly fell over as I was so unbalanced trying just not to kill him. He seemed totally unfazed by the whole event.
The fact is, if you only travel at 20mph around these kinds of roads, you'll be perfectly safe. You'll never go ploughing into obstacles you can't see and, even better, you'll never get rear-ended by other vehicles because they too are only travelling at 20mph. It couldn't be safer if you follow the rules!
