1200 DVT Dvt Starting Problem

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Motohtori, Jun 1, 2015.

  1. First concern about dvt. 3000km behind. I have stalled the machine once while I drove with cold machine. Machine stopped in traffic after fast speeding and hard braking with cold machine. It started again right away. No safety problems.
I have also noticed that after cold start engine revs harder than before and today engine had problems starting after work. It did not start first time I pushed the button. Starter motor turned around a couple of time and then nothing. I had to wait a while and then I dried again and engine started little slowly. Driving was ok after that.
I have to follow that and take the bike to service if this problem comes again.

  2. That sounds like it might be a developing issue. Keep us informed if you have any more trouble. The battery on mine seems to turn the thing over slowly anyway but I think that might be a v-twin thing? Or is it a rubbish OEM battery?

  4. The twins always sound reluctant to start. Engine may be flooded. Give it a bit of gas when thumbing the starter button.

  5. That seems to help:). I did not have this issue on my 2011 model. This morning no problems starting. Battery seems to be ok. Thanks for advice.

  6. Why you riding with cold machine ? It has got about automatic choke , and it's not good to ride any motorcycle when they are cold anyway. Let the bike run alittle before riding off. This problem is rider error I am afraid .

  7. Better a rider error than bike error!!! Specially as I,m beginning to get the itch to buy one despite the odd issues showing up

  8. 3k kms, one poor start...and 'a developing issue'? Some people need to get a grip :p all bikes have the occasional hiccup.

One swallow does not a summer make. But it does make good wife materiel ;)

  14. Belt Up! :)

  15. Crikey . Bit of an over reaction on my part there :(. I was just trying not to ignore the guy so give me a break :Wacky:. Anyway, if I have the first feeling of being on prod it is only the first feeling but definitely a "developing" issue :Cigar:

  16. It doesn't matter which bike if the bikes engine is cold you should ride like mad! If you go over 4000 rpm you only going to cause more problems. I see people just start their bike and fly off with out waiting a second ! Engine oil normally sits in the carter and you should allow the engine to run at least a minute. Running cold engine very high revs only going to cause problems sooner or later

  17. Mine coughs if left for a few weeks or on hot starting and occasionally needs two prods. Big heavy Pistons to spin up
