1200 Leovince Decat - Insurance

  1. Having a nightmare with my renewal, lot of providers won't cover the modification or are asking a silly extra amount. A couple have asked about performance gains, including one (Devitt) wanting the exact bhp increase.

From what I've read, there's no gain to be had without a remap but is that a fair assumption for insurance or should i say 12-14bhp per the LV website (albeit that is for full system with a remap!)

  2. Mine was 134Bhp with the Decat and LV end pipe before the remap.
So your figures put a stock bike at 120Bhp! After the remap....152 at the rear wheel and others have had up to 3Bhp more.

  3. Don't tell them that you have a special exhaust then . If you have a very bad accident (hope not) the insurance company not going to pay you for your exhaust anyway. If they even pay you they will pay a part of it. These days insurance companies are legal rubbery ! I never ever will tell them performance upgrades on my bike. F**k*rs are taking the piss! say you have a special garage with CCTV plus your garage is in a private property no one allows in , they still don't discount on that. But when there is an exhaust put 6 hp on the bike they want more money how fair is that ?

  4. I must say to you if you have an accident they will not try to find out if you have a power commender or full system exhaust or what ever you got . The insurance companies doesn't work like that.

  5. It's not the fact they need to know so they cover the cost of the item(s), as typically farkles are consequential loss unless specifically called out. It's for full disclosure on what they are insuring, along with perceived risk. Anything undisclosed will mean you are in breach of contract, as such the insurance company may walk away in the event of a claim.

Totally agree they are robbing gits though :)

  6. Revert to the original exhaust?

  7. You've clearly not fitted one of these before. After dealing with sheared header bolts there's no way I'm going back to stock. Plus it sounds the business. MCE sorted me out in the end, they just had an option for exhaust cosmetic + performance. Didn't affect my premium

  8. How do they know what you fitted after the accident ? To someone to come and check your bike for damage takes 1-2 weeks minimum . You can easily put your exhaust back or took it off. The insurance companies doesn't care about you why you caring about their policy?

  9. Not if you're in the hospital. Anyway, I prefer to declare else I'd keep worrying about whether I'm covered. But seems I spoke to soon as MCE have left the modification statement blank despite declaring online.
