Hi I am after the lens/glass/plastic whatever it is called for a 2001 748e - not even sure if you can get a new one or have to have a complete new gauge, mine works but the lens is cracked. Can anyone help?? Cheers Mark
The gauge comes complete although it is possible with skill and care to split them and remove the lens and bezel. I doubt you will find them split at all unless someone knows the technique. Your best option is to buy a complete new gauge. If you can get the lens out of the bezel you can use a piece of accurately cut glass to replace it.
I had the same problem last year - it's a common problem with all 916 models. A few came up on fleabay and after a month or so I managed to source a good one for £35 I think I paid for it... good luck
Cheers David998s - I will keep my eye out for one, I want to get one soonish though as hoping to clear the headlight mist and change the temp gauge in the same session.
I removed the bezel on a mate's speedo from his old Triumph and replaced the broken glass with a nice piece of clear Lexan (or whatever) from a visor I had never used.....
Cheers for the suggestion, I am fairly handy, but actually taking the gauge apart is quite tricky so I am told so I might just wait and see if ebay comes up trumps
