  1. without sounding racist,i was watching the tt coverage on itv4 and a thought popped into my head.......where are the black ( I presume the word black isn't offensive ) tt riders ? as I say im not trying to be racist its a legitimate question, also why are there not more black/Asian etc racers ?

  2. speedos asked a similar question a while back. their choice i guess.

  3. Hmmmm yeah, never really thought about that until now! Doesn't seem to be many 'coloured' folks on bikes in general.I'm half black so I don't really count LOL!!;)

  4. You've got Carl Cox running a sidecar team

  9. Walk around any race paddock and you won't find many non white faces

  10. but why is that?

  11. Because it's culture and, more importantly, roots are white, working class. How many white racers had fathers and grandfathers who raced before them ?

  12. I think if you look you will find even places like SA have predominantly white paddocks.

My mate is Indian and we helped each other out for a couple of years and I have seen how 'different' he was treated on occasions, as was I, around the paddock.

    Shameful but fact

  13. bradders I really feel I think almost shame that someone can be treated wrong by ourselves. I know this is a fact of life but it doesn't make it any easier,i wish racism on all sides didn't exist but im afraid its going to carry on long after we are dust , we can try and treat everyone on our journey as we would like to be treated though.

  14. Why do some people feel the need to make a statement about not being a racist before mentioning black people?

  15. good question, but in todays world people are afraid to even open their mouths in case someone accuses them of being racist, homophobic, bigoted etc.in my case as the op I made that statement to point out I wasn't taking the piss.
why do you feel the need to even mention it?

  16. I was curious as to title the thread "Not meaning to be a racist" and then first words are "without sounding racist"

You are allowed to say black people without fear of being labelled a racist.

Im not a racist I hate every one lol

  17. You dont see that many winning 100m freestyle but they always win 100m track.

Horses for courses i guess. Remember the film "White men cant jump"?

  18. I asked the same question of a mate/ex-colleague a few years ago.
He was 2 generation British Indian/sikh. His answer was "family" the heart of his culture is family/children, riding a motorbike or anything else remotely dangerous would be considered extremely selfish and (in his case) probably lead to him being disinherited by his own parents.

  19. Ah now that's because even mentioning the word 'racist' makes you one in some people's eyes. Mainly the PC brigade. What would they have thought if they'd seen a troop of Marines dressed in cowboy rig with pillow cases over their heads dragging a black Marine from pub to pub with a rope round his neck on a KKK run ashore? Oh the things we used to do....

  20. One of my closest mates is black and rides,we go out at least once every couple of weeks to various bike related places and i can honestly say he has never once been treated any different to any other biker shame it was not the same when we were at school.
