hows this for a prediction. the new presenters will be wearing face masks of the old presenters for the opening scene of the new show.
Do not watch Top Gear so was really happy to hear the news as I thought I could now go back to listenening to Radio 2 in the mornings - just found out that unfortunately he is continuing to do that as well.
I have no respect for someone who clearly says I am not interested in presenting the show when all along in the background he was discussImg his contract, I don't particularly like his presenting either
My guess is Plato will be involved somewhere along the line. Don't like Evans but if they change the format to make it more about the cars/bikes rather than the presenters that can only be a good thing.
Indeed. I feel it had somewhat run out of ideas and become stale. I only used to look at it if there was nothing else on and I fancied watching the TV. It wasn't a must-see. So either it will be improved and I will look at it more, or it will be worse and I won't look at it at all. Either way, I don't much care.
let's face it, Clarkson had converted the programme into a comedy over the years with a 'whatever will they do next?' twist to it, the fact that it involved cars was becoming increasingly incidental.
It wasn't just JC, there were 2 other presenters and producers. It worked, the presenters worked. CE is a loner presenter.
Surely SKY will sign up Clarkson,May and Hammond? Put it on at the same time as evans effort and let the public decide. There is talk of suzi perry now alongside evans, that should kill it.
I watched top gear for the antics between May and the lovely hamster Clarkeson was annoying he got on my nerves he came across to me as a dad going along with the young ones and trying to be of the kiddies Thank goodness he has gone
His confessional on the radio this morning of how it came to be reeked of bullshit. I surmise he's been manoeuvring for some time.
You trying to tell me that they are equal thirds that make up the success of the program Evo? It's a personal opinion but I don't think so. maybe I'm older than you but you may remember Clarkson started out on top gear on his own plus has run many journalistic items under the alias of Jeremy Walton for a long time without the help of any Top Gear editors/producers. I admire him for finding a formula that made him popular amongst the masses but never appealed to me.
To be honest, personally I used to love top gear in the early days before it turned into "The Jeremy Clarkson" show with all the antics, the open plan warehouse, test track and all rediculous scripted stuff they did. I can count on one hand the number of episodes ive seen and they have all been the same. The format moved from an informative car show with normal everyday reviews, plus a bit of excitement as Tiff thrashed a Ferrari around some track to some mad Circus which had very little relevance to my day-to-day motoring life. Sure, a lot of my mates love it and religiously watched it, but it just didnt appeal to me. I guess I must be a minority though as the new format and the new style of presenting did give what was an axed show in 2001 a whole new appeal and "saved it", turning it into the huge thing it is now. As for Chris Evans, I have to say ive never really liked the guy either. He always came over as some cocky smug sort of character who thought he was better than everyone else. Didnt the BBC sack him from Radio 1 at one point? Fair play on him though for grooming Billie Piper and winning her "affections" by buying her a Ferrari when she was 18. For me, I think it depends upon who the other presenters will be, and what format the new Top Gear show takes. If they try and keep it the same format, but with Evans being the new Clarkson then I wont be interested. If they change it around, maybe add new blood to it & new features etc. then maybe I will be swayed. Will take some swaying though to off-set Evans.
'laugh-a-minute at any one else's expense' presenter and convincing actor also - bound to find some work soon
I'm 89, beat that. Yes I am saying they had a formula of 3 presenters that worked. They were different.
going by previous posts i'm not sure whether I ought to take the '89' seriously but you need to brush up on your Clarkson either way. Hammond and May could have been Laurel and Hardy and no-one would have noticed.
