899 1199 Termi's On A 899

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by d8mok, Jul 13, 2015.

  1. The 1199 and 899 share the same cans so im assuming they fit either bike. The upmap will for sure be different.

Whats the most cost effective way of making 1199 cans fit a 899.

Option 1 - sell the 1199 as a complete set and buy the 899 set. I reckon £1000 for a used 3 times set of termi's/upmap is about right for a second hand value? And the new ones would be £1400 ish so that would cost £400 .

Option 2 - Fit the cans from the 1199 set. Sell the upmap and then have a rexxer map on the 899. Upmap should fetch £350 - and a remap is about the same. Cost would be neutral. However when i come to sell then i wouldnt have the ability to remove the map from the bike to sell as a complete termi kit. So the £400 i gain id lose when i sell on.

Option 3- ??? im all ears......

  2. Hi Dom. Are you getting rid of your 1199?

  3. Don't want to sound dumb, but have you rung a dealership yet ? Up-Maps are just software upgrades, so should be possible without dongles by the right person. The 'key' is apparently one use and cannot be undone once implemented, but it's all only computer code, so a dealer or a good hacker should be able to sort it for you. Oh, I believe that the Up-Map is already in the ECU and only needs the key to unlock it....... maybe someone else knows better ?

  4. Fit the Termi's onto the 899,sell the upmap but i think £350 is a bit steep, don't forget to take your air filter out,a good dealer will put a generic map on for you.You getting a 899 for the Mrs then :Angelic:

  5. I've asked Nelly and his suggestion is rexxer the 899.

The upmap can be removed from the 1199 and used again on another bike for sure.

  6. Have you p/x'd the 1199 for the 899?

  7. I've had a incident ..... It didn't come out of it alive ..... But I did .... New bike time lol

  8. Glad you're ok :)

  9. sorry to hear that, dom. glad to see you're ok. so you're going to downsize?

  10. Yeh gonna give the 899 a try. I liked the 1199 but never loved it. You knew I'd been hankering after a 1098R but insurance is double. It's either a 848 or 899 as I need to release a bit of cash from the bike but haven't decided yet. Might not even get one this year and wait till next. The 1199 is cat c. 83 year old t boned me and smashed it to bits.

  11. Don't want to sound stupid but what is Upmap? Is that the same as mapping a car? How can you then sell an upmap? Is it a plug in bit of kit?
    I'm confused and need enlightening!

  12. sorry about the 1199 :( I would buy your cans, :upyeah:

  13. It's a map loaded on a usb style dongle. It unlocks the map that's already on the bike.

If I decide to sell them would you be interested? I'd want £1k for everything.

  14. is it a full system? titanium stamped cans?

  15. Cans and up map .

  16. i can get them new for £915 so a grand is a bit steep.

  17. No problem mate. Mine were £1400 new a few rides back. Can you get me a set of 899 cans/up map for £915?

  18. no,just cans and fitting hardware

  19. Oh ok. Mine has the upmap too.

  20. dealer can install upmap for you, its only on a stick so you dont have to bother them if you can fit the kit yourself. Get your cans swopped over.
