Thanks guys, as my school report so often said; "Must try harder", so I will watch the vids and and give it a go before I trade it in for a 2016 model in November. On another note: Am I the only one that seems to spend most of my time on this forum whilst on the crapper!? A late evening dump before bed always seems to be the most popular time for people. (just for the record, I'm at my desk right now so that image you now have in your head can safely be deleted). col
The fact it has Barkbusters and R&G spindle protectors. Had a brain fart moment Sunday doing a U turn and dropped the bike - scratched BB's, tiny dink in front spindle protector and that's it - no damage to the bike at all, even my Ortlieb bag saved my top box! That aside, just got back from a 2.4k miler through The Black Forest, Alps and Dolomites and wouldn't have wanted another bike. 5 years old, 26k on the clock and went like a dream.
Now on my third MTS - 2010S - 2013S - and now DVT 1200S. The DVT has now got 3200m on it and has been to Ireland and will be off to Europe later this year. DVT Best bits - Lights - excellent! but make sure they are adjusted properly. Dashboard - flashy and needs a cover on it but lots of good info can be displayed and the menu is easy to use. Bluetooth software needs an update. Cruise control - Never had it before and can be useful on longer motorway sections. Screen - Better but not perfect. Better with a modified Wunderlich Deflector fitted. Handling - it turns quicker that the previous models and uses more front tyre, much easier to manage at slow speeds. Note - must work on LHS chicken strips - RHS are gone! DVT engine - Much smoother and takes a bit of time to get used to after the older models. Something odd happens at 7K to 10K revs! It flies down the road like it is turbocharged, it goes quiet and smooth and just powers away and the induction roar is intoxicating! It could get you into serious trouble if not handled properly Brakes - Much better and the front has great feel with real stopping power and the back brake works well . Comfort - OK, now have the Ducati / Touratech Comfort gel seat and that feels flatter so not pushed towards the tank so much. Getting used to the different knee angle as you sit lower in the 2015 bike. Is the DVT different - VERY Is it better - DEFINITELY Is it perfect - Almost.
Good info I had a demo on the DVT at the weekend and also really felt the seat pushing me forward and into the tank as you stated. I can imagine it would really bother me on a long distance run. I have the Ducati touring comfort front and rear seat on my 2010 bike and love it Do you have any pics of the seat you have fitted? Is it a Ducati part accessory??
The seat is part number 96784510B and is / was listed as the Comfort seat. It was ordered with the bike and came 3 weeks later, the logo on it says Ducati Performance and Touratech (with logo). One minor point (for me anyway) is that original seat has red stitching and the comfort seat has black stitching, that doesn't bother me but might bother others. I am for practicality over looks every time!
Still on my June 2010 classic and get a thrill every time I take it out (so don't feel the need to change). Ridden all over Europe and has never let me down, dropped or given me any scary moments (these come from other road users). Mine is as light as possible, Mivv exhaust and a few other mods and suspension set up to suit just me. 22K mainly Summer use so in great condition.
@ veetwin how does the comfort seat effect Seat Height compared to the standard seat in the low position?
Sorry don't know - I have never had either seat in the low position. The comfort seat feels flatter so it may be a little higher than the standard seat, which seems to dip in the middle, any difference is quite small a few mm at most.
Had a few days in Paris with the wife and kids this week. Yesterday I took them around Champs Élysées and after making a few "wrong" turns we happened (by complete coincidence :Angelic to end up right outside the Ducati dealership. How weird was that? Beats queueing for the Arc d'Triumphe any day! I kept it nice and subtle, but the boys are now walking around in Ducati t-shirts and the missus has figured (God knows how!?!) that a Multi will be ordered within a couple of weeks.
Had a test ride on an S touring model today. It's my second test ride as last time I was my first go on an MTS and an hour just wasn't enough (my excuse anyway ) This time I loved it! Touring mode is great but sport mode is the one for me. Can't get enough of that! What a bike. Just need to sort out finances and get one ordered, so I can join you wise folk who already know how great they are - cos you've got one. Dealer reckons September delivery if I order now, and I reckon I can haggle a free first service and 15% off the packs if I do my special sad face. I normally reserve that look for the missus to get a "special cuddle" but it's got to be worth a go. :Shy:
Read my article on the Multistrada forum, written under the pseudonym Speed Triple, about the joys of owning an MTS - aka the best all-round bike in the world. Enjoy.
Sorry, I don't have it. But ask Rob, the owner and administrator of this site and the Multistrada site for it. I wrote the review for him.
