hi all. I have come to start my keyless entry dvt and there is nothing. Just the red immobiliser lights flashing. The breakdown people are on there way but the lock is still on. I've removed the top plastic cover and held down the pin code button for at least three seconds but nothing happens. Any ideas how I at least get the steering lock off? Before the breakdown people get here
sounds like your battery is flat, maybe the recovery will have a boost pack the other thing to check is the passive key you have as well which needs to be held next to the antenna which is under the black cover on the rhs of the bike below the bars (page 282 in owners book)
I don't think battery is flat as lights still flashing on Tft screen. Nike has shown no signs of a run down battery before setting off and on journey.
also try taking the battery out of your remote key wait a couple of minutes and replace it then retry switching the bike on if you don't have the passive key to try
Thanks chaps. It was key fob fault. I removed battery for a minute then refitted. It started so I bombed home. I shall replace battery in the morning. Thank you all for your help. You are the best
If it ever happens again, the key will still work like the red valet key. There is an RFID chip in there which the bike will recognise and unlock. But you have to hold it really close to the dash to work. The battery is usually ok, but may be the contacts may be contaminated. Happened 3 months of ownership to my 2013's key as I had a leaky jacket pocket. the key was often left in there while the pocket was soaked and left drying indoors. Changed battery few times and still not solving problem. Sprayed it with contact cleaner, kept key dry. Never needed to change battery again throughout the time I've had it.
Lokyc, when my less than 1yr old battery went in my remote, I tried placing the key by the ariel but it didn't work, got the red key and placed it in the same place and it worked ?
It should. But contacts might be a problem. I doused the whole circuit board with contact cleaner which drove out any moisture on the circuitry.
As far as I know the bike and keys are only two weeks old, Its also one of the first 2016 models. Bike or keys have not seen rain while I had owned it...The information you chaps gave me on here last night was impeccable. And again my greatest of thanks goes out to all who helped me get home...
Contact your dealer for a new key as there have been some reports of the keys doing this on 2015 models they will replace it under warranty
Mine did this when I first bought my my14, but after putting battery back in it never did it again (I didnt replace batery)
Even if the battery in the key fob was flat, defective, or making poor contact, or even without the key at all, the ignition should have come on using the black button and the PIN. Yet @spannerman says (post # 1) he tried this and got no response. That's a bit worrying. I suggest he tries it again, at home in a non-emergency situation, to see if it works or if there is a real defect which needs fixing.
