After having to sell my lovely 899 I am bored shitless and have to have another bike back in my life. The garage looks bare and I have nothing to go out for ! Anyway, finances dictate that I cannot buy another new bike, ( although I have been offered a stupid cheap pop deal on a new MV F3 800 ) so I would like a nice clean 848 Evo or maybe a 1200 Multistrada preferably in Red but white may do. Will probably need to be an 11 plate 848 or 10 plate Multi as I have seen them for sale for my budget. I have the cash waiting but it won't be for a dealer showroom priced bike . If you are thinking of part exchanging your bike then sell it to me for your dealer offer and get a cash discount. As close to Newcastle as you can get would be good !! Cheers
I've had both bikes, the 2010 multi being my current one. The multi is just so much more versatile, I picked mine up a few months back with panniers and topbox. It's the Touring S I have. I'd always pick the touring over the sport as the heated grips are fantastic, especially working through the bikes menu/controls. Carbon can be purchased as and when fund allow but the touring just makes more sense.
What's your inside leg measurement ? The pre DVT Multistrada is notorious for its high saddle even with the low height seat fitted. Had my 1200s for nearly 4 years and i'm not getting rid of it any time soon, far too good a ride. Andy
I have a 899 and a multi (also had a 848)my mate asked me last week if i could only have one which one would i keep,i could not give him a direct answer but after mulling over it for a few hours i said i would keep the multi as its more versatile,as you have owned a 899 going to a 848 would be a sideways step, better going for a 1098/1198.
As a lot of you may know I have already had, 748, 748R, 749, 999S, 749R, 996, 998, 1098S,899 and probably missed a couple. Always had sports bikes but at 56 with a few ailments I was unsure if it was now time to get something more comfortable, still handled the twisties good and was still exciting to ride. I no longer can afford new bikes which had me thinking that another 848 or a Daytona 675 may be an ok choice but after a think I thought of the Multi as everyone seems to be selling their sports bikes and going for naked and adventure bikes. Even thought about the new Hyperstrada as you can get one of those for £6.5k now, although I don't have this much. Even a Street Triple R was considered but not sure of the lights and I am a Ducati die hard ! Wouldn't care, just missed a nice 10 plate multi for 6k not far away.
give the multi a go has genuine sports bike pace in most conditions and you get off pretty fresh at the end and can stick in hooligan or cruise mode just as easily
I agree, go with a Multi, I had an 848 Evo and the 899 is a decent step forward in terms of comfort, smoothness etc. I really think u would quickly be irritated by it! Get a multi
Any £6k multis around, nice ones ? Trade is £5500 on a 10 plate, pity I mucked about on the local one it looked mint only about 11k miles. Some on eBay etc have ridiculous miles and are filthy.
That trade is awful considering I picked up a 2010 touring S with panniers and top box for £9k in March. Only 7k on the clock and I made them do a belt service before collecting it.
Pete1950 has a good S, few miles but well maintained and all the bad stuff sorted No idea what he wants for it
Arnt the multi's brittle with age and mileage? Personally, I think they are over priced. I see reading the threads on the new DVT and some are burning oil. Is it an issue? Sounds like you are edging towards the multi. Not something I want to ride, I might like it.
