I think nerves would get to me in the company of seasoned racers....if anything ive come to be the opposite amongst people that I don't know. I will quite happily say that im not the best and no racer as in the past usually when conversations between bikers quite normally end in a pissing contest (something which I really try to steer clear of) I don't think that im over thinking it....I just know what surroundings would put me under pressure, but that's me....I think id rather be in a tuition type scenario then no one has anything to prove but everything to learn.
We're doing donington on 23rd Oct, road bike only so no racers, no warmers, no wets etc. Smaller groups etc £79 for donington gp !
I had a similar thing a few months ago. Guy was on an S1000r and I tailed him for about 30mls. Hardly touched the brakes, we made good progress and no heroics... As you say, most enjoyable. Atb. G
Comfy, there are different groups, if you are in the same group as a seasoned racer on your first day, someone is in the wrong group. And its not you lol Being with peolpe who know what happens is a good thing, less pressure to know what to do, when session is being called, fuel etc etc Donny sounds great at that price, and Weeksy would always look after you
hmmm - maybe - although I think im out of brownie points at the moment although when I went out last night to collect my oldest she accidentally booked a holiday...funny how that happens...
You could start in beginners and work up if your feeling the need to speed It takes a few laps to get to know the circuit so you will go slower than you think Track days have an instructor On my first one the girl group left me standing while I trundled around trying to knit up cones lol The second time out was much better with an instructor I enjoyed it and didn't fall off once
What's the noise limit? I've never done a TD. I want to do a few on the SF but noise is an issue. Its not a race. The competition is against myself to improve my riding and my times (and really get to know my bike which isn't easy to do on the road). I'm not bothered about "beating" other people.
Haven't got any baffles..:Sorry: I don't think I'm going to make 98. How/where can I test or get tested noise levels myself beforehand to save a wasted journey?
Still have the stock cans and stock ECU but engine isn't standard. Compression and cam timing have been altered among other things. Don't think it would run well at all on the stock set up.
Bristol eh @comfysofa? I'm in Taunton and @bradders is North of you.....sounds like a meet up at yours, straight over the bridge and into Wales for the weekend ;-) ARD's are a great way of testing out track riding. Theres no ego involved (unless you're trying to keep up with friends in the same group) and you're in control. Very relaxed days. I'm going to Odiham on Sunday for the ARD (are you there @Nelson?) but I'm taking my Speed Triple rather than my track bike....I'm really looking forward to just giving it a spanking (the bike).
