1200 DVT Front Brake Cabling

  1. Just discovered half inch of white paint on the very rear edge of my red front mudguard and about 1 inch of scratched red paint in front of it. Cause - the brake cables and holders are rubbing on the paint when the bike is in motion. Contacted dealer who said its a "known problem" fix is replacement mudguard and a protective plastic shield. I dont think there is a plan to put the shield on all bikes currently but it might be worth checking yours out to see if there is any signes of abrasion. Bike has done 2500 miles.

  2. I discovered this last night as well, I will now ring the dealer and let them know since reading this above.

  3. The front brake hoses are prone to contacting either the mudguard or the fork leg while in motion, and gradually marking them or rubbing through the paint or anodising. This is a much discussed and well-known issue with Multistradas.
It is really easy to prevent in advance by positioning bits of plastic, cable-ties or wires so as to keep the hoses away from the hardware. If it has already happened, it's a bit late.

  4. :) Ducati can supply a front fork bracket for a 749/999 that works on the Mutli, I've recently used this option as suggested by RotaxRacer and whilst it ain't that pretty, it's certainly effective and at around £6 doesn't cost as much as the full fork replacement option that Ducati seem to favour under an accepted warranty. Why the heck they don't simply fit this as standard is completely beyond any sort of common sense!!!
I think this is the part number: 74110301B

  5. It's a family affair... The guy that sells Ducati the Ohlins forks, has a brother that designs the cable routing for Ducati. Together, they're raking it in with the replacement forks.
