Yes it can get annoying or tedious reading all the boys flitting with @Ducbird or the other lasses.
And once you have purchased your uprated leads, cam belts and man cave AC systems our regular "plugging" can seem childish.

I Love this forum and it may not be perfect, but it's the best one covering my 2nd (3rd) favourite subject....make that 4th in case SWMBO reads this thread.

 

The thing is mate, it's the same old shite from the same people. I can see exactly where the OP is coming from. Threads degenerate into pages of crap. It is the mob rules, and if you don't like it and speak out you're the one ostracised! From the four people I've just blocked, three of them have 50,000 posts between them!
I don't mind banter, and I know a DB thread was created for this, but they don't stick to it. When someone asks for advise, don't fill the thread with chit chat between mates in here...

 

Don't be aggressive, it is not acceptable and have a look at the number of likes the 4 people have compared with your 15 and think to yourself - am I actually wrong for once sorry about the Scrambler reference, it was meant as humour and not an insult

I agree Terry, and I don't envy your job, or when Matt was doing it, or even back in the days when Dan had his forum before it imploded.
Most of us have been around either this site, or Ducatisti before it for many many years. When that forum went we lost a huge amount of technical information which has never been recovered. But I agree with post 1, the last few years have seen forums take a dive :-(

 

Not that it imho affects this forums but on many you usually find that the most vocal posters hate newbies. And will find pleasure in ridiculing them as much as possible. Which is why the ignore or block feature is so great! It removes the idiots (including me) from someones view & things can run along smoothly. I've had & offered loads of advice over the years in a variety of outlets.

I accept that due to our over friendly nature and almost first amendment rights* we do frequently hijack threads.
On here I've learnt that a gentle (possibly funny) post gets it back on track.
If you just want technical information without waffle (for free) then a forum (any) isn't the place to get it.
