Nothing wrong in the rear brake area. I just feel the vibrations there as that's right next to the engine. It's definitely engine related as the sound changes. Wondering if the exhaust valve could cause that?!?
Doesn't sound like the engine at all - hopefully something simple! Do you get anything at standstill while revving and throttling off on the paddock stand? Something is loose I hope.
The more I think about it, it never happened whilst the temp was low. Once it approached 90's plus, that's when it happened. At standstill it's fine. Checked that and gave it revs whilst still in London.
We'll see what happens when it gets looked at. It's not brake disks (it shakes whilst I sit at lights). It's not a fan (you can feel the 'weight' behind the shake). I can liken it to when the coil pack went on the car and it was running 1 spark down. Whole engine shook but it was intermittent.
Lost a Cylinder? could be HT lead causing loss of cylinder, would imagine you notice a cylinder down though.
I've had this bike a cylinder down before and it was fucking awful. That was when they had to rebuild the whole engine. You certainly notice it more on a twin. It's not that bad thankfully.
I'll just get it booked in and we'll see. Nothing that's been said would cause the noise and shake I'm experiencing. If I could be bothered I'd go film it but having a night of watching old, legendary GP battles.
Something not gone back together properly from the rebuild hopefully - lack of thread lock or something simple hopefully
Sorry to hear about your woes mate. Sounds a bit strange, especially as you've got full power. Hope you get it sorted.
I'm betting it's a dodgy mechatronic ECU causing it [emoji6] How's yours doing now? Leak still fixed?
Funny fecker! Yeh it seems to be ok, last 2 long rides and no oil residue. Fingers crossed. Fuel sensor has gone though and they scratched my front wheel rims (with the brake calipers) when they took it out to replace the fork leg. They'll sort it.
ymfb is having a ride on one on Saturday. Be interesting to see what he thinks. It'll outrun an MTS but Its an awful lot of money.. Look nice in red though. Or Orange... Much as I love Ducatis, my loyalty would be tried to breaking point if I'd had the grief you guys have had. Have Ducati just made this bike too complicated electronically? The 1198 SB and the Diavel are reliable enough and its the same engine.
Possibly a dodgy injector. I've had some before that make a hell of a tapping noise when they fail and you would get vibration from a cylinder dropping power.
Its the KTM 1290 Superduke GT that looks most promising to me. I do love my Multi though (2013 ABS), less enamoured with the DVT when i tested it.
March, I guess when the new plates come out. If its still at the test mule stage they got a bit of work to do. I was interested when they said it would be a 1290 SMT. Its not remotely close to an SMT. Its an SDR with a screen and a bigger tank. But I'm warming to the idea. I assumed they'd snip its balls but this week's MCN article suggests its the full undiluted SDR engine with, if anything more poke than ever. My SF and my SMT are keepers, especially as neither manufacturer seems likely to revisit the format and build new versions, but I'd like to complete the set with a genuine sports tourer. This could just be it.
