French 848 Restriction

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by bettes, Oct 15, 2015.

  1. hi all. Saw a thread a while ago about how the French restricted the 848 to 100 hp, but can't find it now. Can anyone help?

    Thanks, Ian

  2. I Googled it after your text and it brought me here :Hilarious:

  3. I started the thread. The bike is now full power after some research. Cost - nothing!

  4. Aren't all bikes in France restricted to 100bhp?

  5. Ah, ok. Was it just that extra piece they fit onto the throttle body linkage? Or was there something else?

    Thanks

  6. El Toro: Yes in theory they are restricted to 106 bhp but it is a bit more complicated than that. After Jan 2016 this law no longer applies. A personal import can be full power if you know the procedure when registering anyway.
bettes: Yes it is just a very crude bracket that stops the throttle opening fully. If you look at the part diagram for the throttle body area you will see the bracket and the interfere proof fasteners marked with (FR). The fasteners do not need to be removed anyway, all you need to do is bend the bracket out of the way with a long screwdriver and a small hammer.
    Does that answer the question?

  7. @bettes you're gonna need a smaller hammer :)

  8. Cheers, Bob. Yes, it does. :upyeah:

  9. So hitting the bike with a hammer increases the power output. Always suspected this ...
