1200 Crashed Pikes Peak

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by AirCon, Sep 14, 2015.

  1. Just crashed off my opiates (or so my doctor says), so uber depression and loss pangs (not the Pikes Peak, although I do miss it). Doc says that will clear in a couple of weeks.
My Surgeon says "Geological time" when ever I ask about my leg. My wife is an angel and I doubt I'd have made it this far without her.

  3. I do scuba and she hates that.
Many years ago on our very first joint trip out in the far east another small boat flag us down, saying did we have any oxygen as they had found a snorkeller floating mid water. A couple of us jumped across, but the young guy was dead. We had a long trip back to base with them with his girlfriend screaming her heart out. We thought it was unusual that he'd have a weight belt on. Within 10 days the police had finished there investigation...he was diving (under training), then panicked. They hadn't even taken him into a swimming pool to check he could swim!

  4. That's my baby.
If any body wants the low down on it let me know.

    Brief,
It was a fully running engine until the arse who took it away just dropped it on it's left side and smashed the side casing (oil out).
It's going to need a whole new front end, speedo/instrument cluster.

How do they know what it will cost to repair?
The guy stopped at the petrol tank (cover?).

  5. What an interesting website.....

  6. Not sure if this helps, but I had a leg injury 6 years ago I crushed my knee, it took 5 years for it to become useful again and not a painful burden, I had the choice of having it amputated and was told I may not have a choice if the surgery didn't work. I'd like to say lucky it did but after the 5 years of constant pain and discomfort I wasn't so sure, now though for some reason it's been relatively ok and pain free.
I guess what I'm trying to say AC is hang in there it takes ages but time IS the great healer, codeine was the best pain duller for me orimorph, tramadol and dicodamol didn't touch it funnily enough.

  7. Who'd you do your training with AirCon, Paddy or Basac ?
Hope your getting better by the way :upyeah:

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. I love the idea of PADDY training to be sure to be sure to be sure...tea anyone!
Yep I did the padi training as most of my diving was in the far East and USA, so it's the most widely recognised and taught. It is also the most expensive, so I stopped at Rescue diver (I think you can go two more levels).
Please do a night dive on coral...great.

  11. Don't you need a license to buy a CatB?

  12. No, just sign the declaration and pay a membership fee.
Not sure if there is time.
If I did this (and this is the deal of the week) she would kill me with Uber Nagging.

  13. Note I have all the history on this bike, the keys and hand books etc....for a price.
And it still has a years warranty (if you put it back together carefully) £300.

  14. Surely give it a few hours afterwards....got to get some flavour in or it's like chewing rubber.

  15. Might have helped sell if they had spelt it right!
Tempting bargain, even for someone to buy and strip it down.

  17. I am a paid up member and cant bid on Cat B's. Other wise I would have had it to break.

  18. That's what I thought, you need a special license to buy cat B.

  19. Mmm, wonder how you get one???

  20. Unless things have changed I haven't found that to be the case – if someone decides that they want to buy the wreckage back it's their legal right. The DVLA stipulate that the bike can't be repaired or even sold on complete unless it's to a registered breaker. if the owner has bought the wreckage back the chassis/frame number can be traceable to the owner so it's in his best interest to abide by the law and dismantle it himself.

Edit - just to clarify – have bought 2 or 3 Cat B's in the last five years but it is true you wouldn't be able to buy complete from a trader/breaker unless a breaker etc yourself.
