Let's hope the client doesn't see the man he gave the job to, coming on a bike forum asking for advice :constructionworker:
lol.. i tried several times to turn this one down but his insistence and the fact i have nothing else work wise has led to this... im a chippy all day long but some jobs are a lil outta my comfort/ experience zone... its his method at the end of the day and im as capable as the next guy... as i said miles back my only concern is how fast these guns can fire not whether i can cut it! it can only go 1 of 2 ways, neither of which will leave a lasting impression on my life....
You are indeed right that there are 10 to a strip........I have several black ones and a few yellow, but I can't recall if they are high or low power. Bearing the H & S thread in mind, have you been certified to use a Hilti gun...........It's all change these days....can't even change a disc on an angle grinder without having a ticket. If you get the wrong cartridges you could either have them punching right through the ply which looks messy; or depending on the 'steel beams' (are they RSJ type or the pre-stressed folded sheet steel things?) they may not penetrate far enough........or even worse, fly off the steel. Self-drilling screws might be quicker if they are the thin steel beams.
its not a cdm site and as far as i know me and the 2 Labradors should be the only ones on site. its a first floor we are doing and from my limited experience with this tool i wont be working if someone is below.. at all... (unless its an aussie!)
fuck that.. spent 4 weeks out in qatar doing that day in day out and it sucks! like em for the odd fixing but not for speed work. im unsure on this job as to why they have used steel every where... when apart from the structural beams timber would have done nicely...
If I remember rightly,they are a .22 rim fire cartridge.As Al said,they come in different colours/strength.Have fun.
biggest site i ever seen.. 2000 apartments 200 blocks of 10 going up at the same time... hmmm got deja vu... is this a wind up?
anyhu... got to job at 9.... the guv didnt turn up till 10.30... then had to wait till the hilti rep turned up about 11 to get some training for this weapon... boring as fuk but im glad i did it.. even though its just another tool (bit like exige) it was a lil interesting... for example, the heat generated by the fiction of the nail being fired into the steel actually "welds" it to the steel... well i never... quite funny also was the guv insisted his 2 best men (couple of non English speaking Indians) also did the induction/test thing which involved a half hour of chit chat bout the use/safety/maintenance of this bit of kit followed by a strip down/reassembly and being observed using the thing... .. there are no words that i can use without sounding bad to describe the shit that followed... one passed and one is lucky to be alive is all...
lol... wasn't quite what i thought you would say but funny anyway... thought it would be "so ya lucky to be alive then".or something.. guess i just expected a lil more...
