Ex-Tremeloes members accused of historical sex assault - BBC News Suprised more 1960/70's pop band members haven't been in the limelight up to now - as the Trems sang - "silence is golden"
So, is this another case of "recovered memories" or yet another chancer ? A senior police officer involved in setting up Operation Yewtree has recently admitted the police got it wrong and there is a real risk that genuine cases will be treaed with suspican and derision. I have never had the misfortune to have been molested so I have no idea why someone would wait 40 or 50 years to speak up nor do I understand what there is to be gain in jailing a 70 something year old IF they are charged and found guilty by a jury. 40 years ago a lot of these victims were not believed or just ignored and the Police were not that good at dealing with the allegations
Not sure what you mean by "got it wrong". Care to explain? Historic abuse cases are notoriously difficult both to prosecute and to defend. Evidence on both sides can be very scanty, so the court does not have much to go on. The jury may be left to decide whom it believes.
Not much meat in the brief news article I read just the statement he believed the police got it wrong. Sorry Pete. Andy
