According to Ian Falloon's Desmoquattro Performance Handbook the 996R has a 40mm dia. inlet valve. Gudgeon pin diameter seems to have remained at 20mm on all models.
That's interesting because to my logic, the 996R is the bike that homologated the 996RS for racing so I would have expected them to be the same. According to my 996RS workshop manual the valve diameter is 39mm. The more I look at the differences the more complicated it gets. Thank you for the reply though. Andy
