I've just watched the weather forecast for tomorrow and the presenter has just said that tomorrow will start with rain in the early morning but the rain will be replaced by showers late morning. So just more rain then?
The phrase "conveyer belt of showers" amused me. Does that mean it's going to piss down all day then?
this may help SIR – Kevin Hulin (Letters, May 4) asks how one may distinguish between rain and showers. Rain originates from stratus-type clouds, usually part of frontal systems. These are dull and grey and stretch across the sky. Rain is usually widespread and longer lasting. Showers come from cumulus clouds, which are normally separated by patches of blue sky and much more localised in nature. Hence showers are normally short-lived and cover a smaller area. However, it is possible for rain to be light and patchy, and for showers to be prolonged and heavy. In practice, they both make one wet. Chris Hayman Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire
