@Red899 If you are suggesting that organising 500,000 jihadis to come to the EU / UK is beyond their capabilities, this wasn't entirely clear in your posts, then you are probably correct, but to claim to be able to do it is a small part of the campaign being waged by Isis to spread disquiet. However given the mayhem a small number of jihadis can create I don't think the total number is particularly important, the response has to be the same, we have to do all that we can to limit the ability of jihadis to come here. So what do you think we should be doing in response to these attacks ? Practical suggestions please.
Im not sure i could have been much clearer mate, as long as you actually clicked on the link and didn’t go off on one without reading what i was referring to; this thing had me in stitches last night, nothing like a bit of scare mongering to get your point across is there Stop all immigration and close the UK borders until ISIS is defeated. - Petitions imagine actually signing that lol "IS also threatened to flood Europe with 500,000 jihadists." I despise things like that, hence my mocking tone perhaps. I completely agree with you John that stricter border controls are necessary, I was trying to head off the “close the borders and nuke the bastards to death, men women and children” brigade. Its not the answer and never will be. As for your question as to what I would do, i would imagine its going to take many many years and a lot of understanding and forgiveness. Something that looks like neither side is capable of doing right now (understandably) but I would suggest talking to and taking advice from those who know ISIS and similar organistaions/groups, similar to the chap in that Guardian interview/link i posted wouldn't be a bad place to start. Im sure they al;ready do to an extent. Until then we’ll just be going round and round in circles (one terrorist group will replace another and so on) and more and more innocent lives will be lost both in Europe and the middle east etc. Something I hope we all want to avoid. Thankfully I don’t get paid to be a politician and neither have I been educated to that degree so I'll have to hold my hands up and say I wouldn’t know where to start. I do know nuking/bombing people/towns/cities (and closing borders) creates more anger and hatred so would suggest thats not the way we go about it.
"While we are trying to destroy Isis, what of the 500,000 civilians still living and trapped in Raqqa? What of their safety? What of the very real prospect that by failing to think this through, we turn many of them into extremists? The priority must be to protect these people, not to take more bombs to Syria. We need no-fly zones – zones closed to Russians, the regime, the coalition. The Syrian people need security or they themselves will turn to groups such as Isis." thats from a man held captive and tortured by isis for 10 months, if he can think that, what's stopping the rest of us?
The first plane of many carrying refugees to Scotland arrived in Glasgow today, here is what Iain Mcwhirter of the Scottish Herald thought of it. Tolerant image of Scotland in for a reality check (From Herald Scotland)
Well...according to Donald Trump...we should all be allowed to tool up...and then we'd be as safe as they are in the US................. .
Closing borders is not a humanitarian crime by any reckoning nor is it in any conceivable way commensurate with the waging of war. Controlling borders and deciding who enters a country, why, in what numbers and how long they shall stay is the right and proper privilege of any nation, to be decided by the people of that nation and their government and no-one else. You enter someone else's country on invitation not on demand because you feel its a better country than yours and you fancy a piece of it. There are any number of reasons why a country, or a group of countries, might limit or suspend inward migration and no-one else has any right to pass judgement on that exercising of sovereignty. In the case of Europe, the combined landmass of EU member states is roughly half the size of the USA yet it already has twice the population. That alone would be enough to warrant stringent immigration controls. In the present circumstances the countries of Europe are perfectly justified in re-establishing proper borders and rigorously controlling who passes through them. The situation and the duty of governments to their citizens demands it. Get used to it because that is how the world works and it isn't about to change to please you.
You are obviously not in business of hospitality or you would know what open boarders mean. Opening borders in EU has made EU travel sensible and accessible to many people that were not able to pop out before. If you close borders lots of small B&B/Cafes on the routes close down simply cause no one will want to travel by car and stand 2h on each border to get through. Getting to Italy via short route would mean 6h + to your journey so it becomes a two day trip rather then one long one. Many people will not be able to afford flights for 2 Adults and 2 kids. Going by car will be cheaper, adding additional nights on the way makes it yet again more expensive and you loose days. You instantly alienate people that are not that well off while rest makes no difference to them. I know I would not be that taken by riding around Europe if I had to spend 2h on UK border, then 2h on Belgium, 2h on Germany, 2h on Austria before I get to Alps and then if I want to nip in to Italy or Switzerland loose even more. Do you honestly think closing down borders would stop those that have resources and want to get to UK? It is not like right now a known terrorist just riders around in a car all the way to France or UK. They get to USA from Syria FFS that is a much harder trip. Finally some of the attackers were French, how are you gone stop that with closed borders? Many are already here, many more are not known to Police cause they were laying low so will still be able to get in here. Some will be recruited from local people who are of week mind and can be "converted" or brain washed to do something stupid. You will not be able to stop attacks like in France with closed borders. Guns are freely available so that is sorted. North west London sub machine gun fired at police officer: Submachine gun fired at police officers in north-west London | UK news | The Guardian East London man charged with shooting a police officer: Met police officer shooting: man charged with attempted murder | UK news | The Guardian Yet another one form East London: East London roads cordoned off after police officer injured in gun attack – video | UK news | The Guardian Gun crime is out there, guns are out there, I can make explosives that will be very damaging, you can to just do not know it. Google is your friend for that. All you need is few chemicals available over the counter and bearing balls......
there's no doubt there are some right nasty bastards up here. you will usually see them during marching season, weaving their flags pissed up walking the streets of glasgow not so much on a Saturday now that their team are languishing out side the premier division somewhere. i am one of the few that listen to that show (think it hovers around 6k mark)in between the compressor and phone going i didn't here to much bile. noticed the comments page was closed. often a sign it aint going the way the editor planed. trust me, with the herald. if dugdale was firstminister it wouldn't even get a mention. the daily record (another manipulator of the truth) is saying something quite the opposite as off two hours ago.
But they lived in France (3rd one down): Paris attacks: Who were the attackers? - BBC News What makes you think we do not have any in UK? The other two living in Belgium would you stop them coming to UK as they have legit passport? There was allegedly 4 of them. There was more helping. They do not seem to know names of those helping which suggests they knew nothing of their involvement until attacks. As such they could have been in UK a night before buying Fish and Chips and you would not even know. You would not even know if you had border controls or not as they have legit passports!
I did wonder... If You Hear President Obama and John Kerry Call ISIS “Daesh,” Here’s Why - Yahoo News UK
I can't believe I walked into that! Your names have been noted in my black book....come the revolution!
What I profile what, whom? It was not me who said I clearly do not do business as then I would know open boarders are not needed. Benefit of EU for some is problem for others. Just like any other rules, regulations or customs. Hospitality is where I worked and still work so know few things.
What I meant was profile at borders; some people can be let through quickly, others need closer examination. Not PC but hey ho.
