1200 De-cat Silencer

  1. I think the smoothness is linked to the ECU reprogramming. I still have the stock exhaust, it is really smooth from down low and also more powerful. I don't think an exhaust will change anything down low (opposite at higher RPM) if you already reprogrammed the ECU, it's a 90-10 in percentage in this case I think. Tom at Hypertrick explained it with it's dyno graphs really well.

  2. No it has, I haven't had it mapped and with the decat removed me and wifey both can tell a difference in smoothness at lower RPM's. Is yours remapped then Neo?

  3. Brilliant work, thank you for taking the time to do the video. Seems like taking the centre stand off then back on again is the most time consuming part?

Seems slightly flatter in sound with the baffle in, like it knocks the edge off it?

  4. Yes, mine has been remapped. Even if you just disable the o2 sensors the engine will be reborn, flatter and higher pull. I think the major part down low will depend on this, while the higher part will depend on the exhaust. I remember that Tom of Hypertrick showed a graph of a bike that has been remapped and modded on the intake part on the first, and then the same bike with a full system. The biggest difference down low was from the first "step", the higher part from the second.

  5. If you ride the bike with the exhaust valve disconnected you will find the bike is a lot smoother. I have modified the standard exhaust by removing both the flap and cutting the box open and removing the catalytic core, fitted with a Leo Vince carbon end can and she sounds really good!

  6. Cheers bud. Hopefully will help some ppl. Yes the centre stand was tough as the spring doesn't wanna let go.
Yea baffle in is flatter and means you can ride around without being too annoying and should a day arise that I fancy being annoying then 5 bolts and 10mins and baffle is out. Pukka Mod.

  7. Nice! I'd say you've about convinced me. How long did it take to fit? Just so I know how long to allow. Also, did you loosen the front header? If so, did you replace the gasket?

Btw serious workshop envy, that's a great space you have there!

  8. Ha ha cheers bud. To be fair it's not exactly my space but that's a long story. Lol. To be honest if I new what I was doing then it wouldn't have taken as long as it did.
You could literally do it in 2-3hrs with many tea breaks. 1.5hr if you know what you doing.
It took me a while because I tried doing it without removing front header pipe, don't bother.......just remove it and yes I replaced the gasket.
O and final piece of advice, before fitting ensure your stock can fits onto the decat pipe (this will take 5mins). If you don't and go to fit it, and it doesn't fit (like mine) It's a ball ache to get it off to exchange or have pipe cut down (I cut mine). I am the only person I know to have had a fitting issue with the Leo Vince but just to be sure I recommend checking, mine was literally 3mm of slidding onto locating pin.
Let me know if I haven't made sense.

  9. No, that makes sense - sounds almost like the locating pin was welded on 3mm too far down the pipe, perhaps?

Did you have any grief getting the front header off? I've heard the nuts can get seized.

    Ta!

  10. No I had no trouble at all. My bike has only done 6K though so not masses of mileage, I didn't even use WD40. I would recommend bathing in WD40 the night before, I wasn't planning on removing the header originally so I didn't bother.

  11. Having looked at the spec and price (!) of the 2016 PP, I'm keeping my '10 and fitting the LV decat - any recommendations of the cheapest reliable source?

  12. If Santa arrives with his sacks full of Xmas bonus I think I'll be fitting a LV decat to the PP and booking a session with CJS on the rollers:)

  13. I don't know if they are cheapest but I got mine from GBmoto. £319 + £51 for baffle. They have an eBay account but price was cheaper on actual site. I believe at the time I brought it, that was best price.

  14. Agreed, they're the UK distributor for Leo Vince, and are the cheapest I've seen. There are alternatively like Dan Moto on ebay, but they don't incorporate a silencer section, and quality is likely to be somewhat lower.

  15. Thanks - I was looking at them - leovince.co.uk and the LV does seem a good bet: I like the idea of at least a nominal in-line silencer. Now need to sort out a remap to suit, that doesn't involve me hacking down from the Highlands to Bristol to get a good job done.

  16. Let us know how you go with that - even for me it's a 2hr ride, and in this day and age I can't help feeling there must be a way of being able to upload a map, even if it's not perfectly tailored. Worked alright with a Power Commander and my old 1000DS.

  17. Just got bk from a good ride with mixed roads. This makes the multi so much better in town. Town speeds are no longer between gears. It's happy to cruz in lower RPM's, can't get across how chuffed I am. I will save up for a remap at some point but it's running pretty well at the mo so in no rush.
