Dqs - How Does It Work?

  1. Here's a quick question for existing 1299 owners or other people in-the-know...

With a standard quick shifter to perform an up-shift, you keep the throttle pinned and simply give the gear lever a firm prod with your foot and hey presto, the shifter cuts the ignition momentarily and the gear changes. Does the DQS work the same as this? What about the down-shifts that DQS supports? Do you just close the throttle and prod the gear lever the other way? I was wondering because the 1299 has Up and Down paddle buttons on the LH bar. Are these anything to do with the DQS or are they simply for changing the TC level?

    Thanks
    Dave

  2. Yep. DQS on the downshift is as simple as closing the throttle and prodding the shifter. the ECU auto blips to match rpm.
the up/down buttons allow you to adjust a pre assigned function on the fly without entering the dash menu. Can be DTC level, Wheelie control or ABS level.

  3. Thanks for that, Nelly!
You may soon have another red bike to look after...
