1200 DVT Quick Shifter And Warranty Question

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by B1stoboy, Dec 1, 2015.

  1. Just had a chat with my dealer on fitting a quick shifter and what was involved in getting to the coils and he raised a concern that the DVT may not react too well to "unexpected" ignition cut-offs.
He stated that they had a complete engine failure due to an ignition issue and its impact on DVT which was corrected under warranty but he was very nervous about fitting a QS on a DVT and the warranty implications.

Any of you guys that have fitted QS on DVT's had any issues ?

  2. I woudbe interested to know as well

  3. Why would Ducati honour the warranty on an engine if the engine has been modified in an unapproved manner ?

  4. Could be why ducati have not fitted a QS to the dvt ! Seems strange there not following the trend of manufactures that are fitting QS.

  5. But there is manufacturers advertising units for the DVT Healtec and Translogic to name a few I'm begging to wonder now if the sudden cut affcts the valve timing via the knock sensor

  6. JohnV thats my point. I was interested to know if anybody has
    a) experienced any probs on the bike with a QS fitted ( I know there are a few installed) and
    b) whether their dealer has made any comments re the QS regardless of any probs.

  7. Ive had no problems with my Translogic quickshifter , been fitted for 3yrs + now, even my dealer thought it was fantastic when he test rode it after he serviced it. Admitted its not a DVT model though, but I cant see it been a problem on the DVT as the variable valve timing is a hydraulic mechanical control, controlled via engine oil pressure

  8. I had a Translogic QS on my 2013 Twin-Spark PP, just fitted one to my new 1200S DVT and haven't had a problem with either. Both were supplied and fitted by my ducati dealer. It's one of the best accessories i've ever fitted to a bike!

  9. Just ordered the Healtech. Hopefully will fit next week. Will post installation experience and results.

  10. That's one of the reasons why Ktm put a disclaimer in the manual that fitting a QS would void the warranty, when they were testing the QS on the 1290 super duke they destroyed several engines, it knocked the valves off the seats and bingo, so advised against this, but there testing was not typical rd riding it was more change gear on the rev limiter !! So in real world it was fine and there new Gt has had a slight change in engine to accommodate the QS .

I fitted a translogic to a bm bike via ignition cut and the canbus detected as a fault and put the bike into limp mode every time you used the shifter so then rewired to cut the fuel instead and worked perfect.
