Well My son was involved in a car crash in Bridgewater Somerset on Saturday, a car coming the opposite way was going so fast around a bend it was on his side of the road and would have been a head on if my son didn't turn his car into the kerb, the other car didn't even skid just smashed into the side of him and pushed him up onto the path the force cracked a kerb stone they just carried on, luckily another car followed them about 100 yards around the bend only to watch to middle age men run into a house with the car sat outside, My son had to phone the Police twice to get them to turn up, 4 witness saw what happened and pointed to the house, so pc plod just knocks on the door then return's to my son to say no ones answered the door so no one is in :Wideyed: To cut a long story short after making a complaint to Police, i received a call yesterday from said Pc Question one, why not kick the door in because of crime committed, drink/drugs plus hit and run etc. Answer, As any injury was not to serious I'm not aloud to do that and i could not see or SMELL any drugs or drink in the car i had no reason to think they were on anything :Wideyed: Later the police went to the registered owner of the car who showed them a hand written piece of paper stating that he sold the car a week before for £50 cash and didn't fill in the v5. Q2 Then surely he is liable for not telling his insurance company or Dvla about any change's, Answer, That would be down to the insurance company to sort it out (so your not going to arrest him then) Answer NO. I could go on and on i asked a lot of questions and in my view got stone walled with law this and law that, PC said they are going to still do some more inquiry's. I think registered owner was driving and got a mate to write recipt for sale of car but maybe thats me being stupid, There injuries are mild, compared to what could have been the out come, it does amaze me just what you have to do to get arrested now, I remember now you have do get caught doing 35 mph in a 30 silly me for forgetting, His car is a Fiesta st3 6 months old and smashed to bits every wheel/tyre is damaged, rear wheel is out of line, doors don't shut etc To say we are totally pissed of is an understatement but i do fill totally let down by the Police, Sorry for moaning on.
hope your son's ok. After my daughter was drove into from behind and driver who went into here got out and started shouting at her at a red light. She's 21 and although not as serious as your sons accident, after reporting to police for road rage failing to stop etc. police informed her because of him not having being reported before nothing is going to be done.!!!!! What a load of wankers, they did say if there's damage to the car and she can prove it wasn't there before the accident she can go through insurance to get repaired. Total waste of time contacting the police they are a complete joke.
It was him and his girlfriend just the usual aches and pains, my son its his bum and hip that took a big hit. Im more pissed off with the police/laws?
First, and certainly most important, I'm g;ad your son is OK. And second, as you can see, the police may have other important things to do: Thames Valley Police 'must improve traveller and Gypsy data' - BBC News But, seriously, I was under the impression that not correctly reporting the sale of a vehicle to DVLA (via filling in the right part of the V5) is now regarded as quite serious - Plod should certainly not disregard that. As for insurance, if it was not cancelled by the registered owner (and he can't do that restrospectively, you could have a claim against him: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/d-v-l-a-oversight-be-warned.32079/page-3#post-553480 What I really don't know or understand is what happens if you report the accident to your insurance company, and the owner, or former owner, of the vehicle does not want to play ball. Really, the insurance companies should have some way of establishing for themselves who has a vehicle covered. If you know the registration of the other vehicle that must help, and you can look at askmid.co.uk to see if it is currently covered.

The policeman got the registered keeper/policy holders details from the reg number and his insurance company details. so it is covered but he says he sold it a week before, his insurance company are doing all there correspondence by post to my son's insurance company to slow it all up and not by phone are email :Jawdrop: I do not expect anything will happen to him but hope the police do something
I think you are fully entitled to have a gripe about it! Oldest dodge in the book - other driver who went on his toes either pissed or had gear on him 100%! How come they chase you all round town for an unpaid ticket but haven't got the bottle to put the tossers door in? Thank god your boy wasn't seriously injured or worse cos I've seen 1st hand what it does to a family- my mates lad will be in a wheelchair for rest of his life thanks due to a similar situation- only difference is he got hit in drivers door and you can guess the rest? Scumbag got a suspended sentence, community service, fined and a 5 year ban! Justice no! My mate knows where he is.
I am a car dealer and about 3 years ago I took an old shitty 1996 Jeep Cherokee in p/x and sold it off e bay to a guy who said he was Kenyan and going to export it back home - it was a sad old thing with a short mot and it made about £450 which was more than I expected! When he picked it up I told him he could only have the green slip from V5 and I would send log book to Swansea as I always do but he said it was booked on boat sailing from tilbury the next week and it would not be permitted to enter Kenya without paperwork.OMG - last time I ever do that! The wanker parked it all over London getting tickets, dodged all congestion charges,QE2 toll bridge, speed cameras and was driving it untaxed and uninsured ( they weren't as hot on it 3 years ago).It was a living nightmare - I notified DVLA when 1st few tickets landed but the ID and address he gave me were false - I had court letters and bailiffs at my door 24/7 and when I finally sorted it all out the DVLA fined me £700 and the back tax!MY OWN BLOODY FAULT I KNOW! never ever again
Visit the local petrol stations & request that the police gather all available CCTV evidence from the area. This will mitigate who was driving the vehicle. But, as you probably sense the police don't give a flying fuck as criminal scum get away with this sort of thing all the time. Another good point is get a dash-cam, its saved me from at least one collision where i thought it would be 50/50. Instead because i could prove the driver changed lanes with due care, he covered the insurance blame.
I hope they fine this bloke but i don't think they will, it seems to be because my son has insurance plus Gap insurance it's all ok and can be forgotten about, fingers crossed i just a call from the Police to give me an update. Never thought about a dash cam are they the same size as the ones you see on crash helmets, also don't fancy sticking it to the dashboard,
I'd have said i thought i saw one of them with a weapon. "Oops sorry i must have mistaken officer" Might as well arrest them now though for the car crash 10 minutes ago eh ?
I've had a Blacksys dash-cam in my car for a couple of years now - it lies by the rear view mirror and switches on /off with the ignition. Thankfully, I haven't needed it yet, but last winter on the M62, a BMW overtook me at speed in very icy conditions, hit the central barrier and spun round 360 degrees. Had I hit it, the footage would've been pretty useful, as it showed the incident plus my swearing as I headed towards it
I remember a similar case back in the early nineties, a couple of parked cars hit by a vehicle who did not stop. Member of the public got the number plate. We arrived at the address and with permission from the inspector we kicked the door in as we had reasonable suspicion the perpetrator was inside. Occupant failed the breathalyser and was locked up. Unless the law has changed, I see this as a failure to act by the PC in question. He had the address, he had reasonable suspicion of an offence being committed and therefore a forced entry was available in my opinion. A lot has changed since the early nineties with regard to policing. It coincided with the change of name from Police Force to Police Service. Its basically about collecting fines and acting as social services these days. I could go on....
moan away, you can never hear too many stories about how corrupt and/or negligent the police are, especially when someone tries to tell you how "heroic" they are and "where would we be without them?" example two for 02.12.15 M1 lorry shunts: Police failed to attend call for three hours - BBC News
Seems there is a lot of stories out there, as i posted i could go on so i will mention another, When the pc came back from the house he said to my son "i like your car but not the colour (Molton orange) bet you go fast in that" :Banghead::Banghead::Banghead::Banghead:
Dash-cams can be had for well under £20 these days. I have two, one forward facing and one rear facing. Call me cynical, or paranoid, but I wouldn't drive without one these days.
They didn’t even bother to turn up at my house when I reported my first 675 as stolen. “There won’t be any evidence and there’s not much we can do, just make sure you contact your insurance company” I hate them and it makes my piss stink when I hear them described as hero’s by certain sections of our brain washed society. If you want to speak to a police officer round my way head to the nearest motorway bridge where theyre usually sat in their cars doing sweet FA.
catching a lot of uninsured drivers and if the programs are accurate a lot of them are illegal immigrants. but there are other threads for that subject in particular.
Funny you should say that I was pulled a month or so back because MCE insurance hadnt updated the MID when I renewed my policy back in June. Fairly sure there’s another thread for that too. :tearsofjoy:
