Follow up to my previous event involving an Italian vehicle (1098R) and a trip in the AA "van of shame"....see below my latest event!
Auxiliary belt pulley "fell off"...no power steering, alternator or aircon. Apparently, a known issue. Great.
Diesel? If so, you would be amazed how many different manufacturers suffer due to the nasty secondary vibration all diesels suffer from. It's effectively the same engine characteristic which eats dual mass flywheels on just about all diesels, especially mondeos and vectras
Ah the joy of joint Ducati and Alfa ownership. My bank manager once commented that he could decide whether I was to be admired or pitied for owning the two Italian marques especially at the same time. I reminded him of the saying 'fortune favours the brave' but then he pointed at my bank balance!:Shy:
The only problem I ever had with my V6 Alfa 166 was after an "expert" (not me I hasten to add) screwed up the cam belt change and the tensioner wound out on the way home. Other than that it was about the best three years motoring I've ever had, it was a magnificent car.
Totally agree. I had two Alfas (not at the same time, I'm not completely insane!) but they were the most exciting cars I've ever had. Both 3.2V6. The engines sound amazing. I'd have bought another but the missus wouldn't let me, ended up with a dirty diesel BM instead, which is reliably dull!. Having said that no longer do I have to worry about being spontaneously engulfed in flames, or it spitting out steaming oil soaked bits of broken cogs and iron filings when sat at the traffic lights. Ah, those were the days, a unhealthy mixture of excitement and fear!.
crank pulley? heard of them deteriorating and causing knocking but never coming of. cheers handy to know ta.
