Just a quickie peeps! Can anybody furnish me with a pic of the rad (996 on 1098 motor) mount and the oil cooler mount. Forgot how it fits, and think I've misplaced a bit!! I think there's a bracket in the 996, if so, can I bolt it onto the 1098 head? Been busy, so progress has suffered on my build. Cheers
# this was using a modified 1198 mount, I swapped it out for 2 right angle brackets made from aluminium 2mm sheet to get more central in the end
Cheers, where does the bottom of the rad fix to and have you got any pics of the mount or could I use a 996 oil cooler mount? Ps is that your airbox bottom? Don't suppose you have a spare one you want to get rid of?
no spare airbox bottoms and the oil cooler tab has been removed to get it to sit well in the vee piece. The bike isnt availabe for pics at the moment so i cant get details on the mounts I made, its going into storage till march too.
Got it. The 1098 bracket seems to bolt onto the bottom of the head, does it not ? I'll see if I can fab some mounts up. It may be easier to use a 1098 cooler? What say you Nelson ? Is there no probs with the 1098 cooler fouling the 996 fairing? On second thoughts, I think I'll stick with the 996 cooler. I'm indecisive. Thanks all for your advice. Dave
Yup - the 1098 cooler hangs from a bracket that fit to the front head. IIRC both the 996 cooler and the 1098 one will fit, but the 1098 one looks better as it fills the V in the fairing better. Th fairing V piece (if fitted) wont fit now as it will no longer sit central on the mounting holes....You'll see what I mean when you try it...:Artist:
Wiki the v piece fit if I get the 1098 cooler or if I modify the mounting bracket? Does The 1098 head have the holes to mount the v piece correctly of are they in the bracket? Has anyone got a spare bracket the want to get rid of?
The 1098 head has the holes to mount the 1098 mounting braket. It has holes for V piece, but won't be central.
