Sports Personality Of The Year

  1. I only managed to watch the last bit of the show , good to see the Davis cup team win the team award and was happy enough to see Murry collect spoty rather than Hamilton or TysonFurry . I see Dr John Hynds mentioned in the section naming those no longer with us,but was Danny Kent or Johnny Rea mentioned for their world championships ?

  2. Yes they got a brief mention, Tai Woffinden also got a mention.

  3. Why do I get the feeling that after finishing outside the top 3 Tyson Fury retracts his apology at the after show party and batters 10 bales out of Tom Daley and Eddy Izzard then makes all the women get back to 'their kitchens'.

  4. Perhaps Lewis Hamilton should stop pretending to be some kind of movie star/rapper and concentrate on winning

  5. Corrected for you.

  6. The title alone winds me up, how can Murry or Hamilton be called personality of the year? neither have a personality in my opinion, it would be much better called sports Achievement of the year.

  7. So what do you think counts as "personality", if Murray and Hamilton don't have it? And if it is not connected to achievements? Does it mean being different and provocative - like Mr Fury?

  8. That dried up old bag princess anne won it one year so i'm not sure it's ever been about personalities.

(You can also add Seb Coe, Robin Cousins, Mansell, Damon Hill, Michael Owen etc etc...to the list of non-"personalities")

Murray deserved to win it and i cant abide tennis.

  9. Don't drip to us, have a go at everyone who voted for him last night.

  10. Being a southerner and a rugby union fan I'm not into rugby league at all really. However I think the only two it should have gone to were Jess and the Leeds Rhinos(?) guy! Both real personalities and not just about the money honey

  11. What was worth watching was the martial arts kids and their dad being interviewed by Eddie Izard- their faces were priceless

  12. I agree with Birdie, so many of the winners have no personality, A. Murray included. He has had some great achievements including part of the Davies Cup winning team.

Im not sure who should have won it last nights so few of them have a personality at all, although they reached an all time low with Ryan Giggs. Bradley Wiggins was the last personality to win it, IMO.

At least Wayne Rooney doesn't look like he was ever in with a shout

  13. I really have no idea what you mean by "personality". People keep posting about "personality", but no-one gives the slightest clue what they are talking about. Bizarre.

  14. someone that doesn't talk in monotone seems to be the consensus.

  15. Pete you know exactly what we mean, you are just being you. Everyone has a personality but they are all different some so called personalities are likeable others are jumped up prats full of there own importance and there are the plain boring ones, so are the awards for a jumped up prat, a generally nice person or someone who has excelled in there chosen sport? If it's the latter then as I said earlier the show should be called Sports Achievement of the Year.

  16. I see the beeb is ending F1 coverage and it's going to channel 4. Is the beeb becoming a corporation of dancing and soaps. It seems that so liitle sport is shown on the bbc that I'm surprised they know enough about sport to even host an awards event. Then again, it's sports 'personality'

  17. that could again elevate the likes of fury or had he been one of ours even pistorius. a sports personality is obviously (to me anyhoo) in this context a worthy household name. which murry certainly is.

  18. Who is Murray?
Never heard of him only his mum say no more

  19. Those in sport that are at the top are bloody minded, live and breathe their sport. Got to admire the dedication. Getting to the top must be bloody difficult, staying there, even more so. Most have grown up in their sport and know nothing else.
