Is it just me or does anyone out there have the same hassle fitting the cases. If there's a knack I don't have it .Can fiddle about with them from 5 to15 minutes for each one!!Smearing swarfega on the pannier and frame brackets helps but generally a real chew-mines are staying on !
Swarfega, not good, it has abrasives in it. That will only compound the problem. Until the lower rubbers wear a little, they will be a bugger to get on. WD 40 onto the rubbers, and the mechanisim usually does the trick for me. Yes it can be a faff but 15 minutes is a bit excessive! it gets easier the more you tek em on and off.
Mine go straight on. Take a few firm thumps, but to be honest that is rather reassuring. Rubbers aren't worn at all. May be I have 'the knack' but don't think i'm doing anything special.
It used to take me an age to get them on but now it is a 30 second job. I focus on lining the top up, the bottom bracket finds itself! When seated correctly i push the pannier forward, check alingnment and then give a couple of thumps to get them home. I have never used any WD40 or the like on mine but I have put Silkaflex mastic on the bottom rubber to make sure this doesn't ever fall off.
I did the same...then one of them came off when I was removing the pannier. Time for something stronger!
The cases go on and come off fairly easily....they do sometimes need a bit of a bang (both ways) but silicone lubricant helps.. The rubbers? Leave them off until you need them. Mine live in the top box...you could put them under the seat or in the cubby hole near the dash... Works for me.
My solution is to remove the pillion pegs first !! The dealer fitted mine before my current trip and they are staying on till I get home. Never carry a passenger anyway and the bike looks so much better without the rear pegs. (sent from Andorra via my iPad)
Make sure the are on securely....locking alone does not suffice! Any one down south near Southampton picked up a red left side pannier recently? Alternatively have single red right side pannier for sale
