I'm 5'7" and even with the standard screen on max I'm getting a lot of wind noise. If I duck my head a couple inches there's no wind noise at all - obviously! There are a few aftermarket add ons (lip spoilers) and alternative screens, has anyone tried any yet on the DVT and can report results?? Thanks
I've always been impressed with my Wunderlich add on lip on my non DVT, very adjustable, very well made... I'll be transferring it over to my new DVT Wunderlich universal screen extension - clear (WUN-20280-001) - Nippy Normans The alternative is to use a shorter screen, but not so good for long trips though.
thanks for both replies. Its a wind noise issue, not buffeting. I've come over from years of sportsbikes and this is my first adventure bike, wasn't exactly sure what I should expect. I currently wear an HJC helmet which, whilst the lightest lid I've owned, is also the noisiest! I think a possible upgrade to a Schuberth may be in order later in the year, but in the meantime, i'll adopt the ear plugs. I may get a deflector just to see if it makes an improvement.
I know they are not always liked by people but I have the offical Ducati optional touring screen fitted. Even at 6'3" it make a positive improvement to the wind noise and turbulance. I have been running both the seat and touring screen in the lowest position and that works for me. Strangely if I run the screen in the top position I get the turbulance going over my head and then pushing my helmet forward slightly from the rear. I had a BMW R1200RT do the same thing. It seems to be all about low and high pressure areas infront and behind the screen and the swirl over the top.
Oh, and when it's warmer the little stuuby screen that stops in line with the top screen mountings give the least disturbed airflow. It also makes it feel like you are riding a supermoto. Nice......
Only trouble with the little screen is the f*cking bugs in the summer! After a long ride I get off my bike looking like I've been through a swarm of locusts!
