999 Led Tail Lights

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Old rider, Jan 25, 2016.

  1. I have one with built in indicators, so gets rid of the standard indicators but retains the same rear tail light design. Bought from Germany I think. Was just plug and play as had built in indicator relays...some don't.. Although you need to have a friendly MOT tester!

  2. I remember a few years back on the old ducatisti forum a lot of people had a lot of trouble with a company called emoto. Parts ordered and never turned up, no replies to emails etc. I wonder if it's the same company again?

  3. OMG Emoto!! I remember them, a total bunch if shiesters and I've NEVER dealt with any company that was quite as truly unprofessional, dis-courteous and dis-honest as they were. They were a wart on humanity's ass and frankly the world is a better place without them.

  4. Wow, thank goodness I asked here before placing an order!
I do like the idea of an LED board to replace the oem bulb and reflector though. These guys must source their boards from a supplier somewhere, almost certainly China - how to find them elsewhere??

  5. I had one on my 999 for a couple of weeks but removed it as I felt the indicators weren't very visable in sunlight. Also a bit nervous about getting a pull.

  6. eBay NEW DUCATI 749 2004 LED REAR LIGHT WITH BUILT IN INDICATORS | eBay
I've had one of these on my bike for a few years now. They are NOT road legal in the UK though, as part of of the rear light goes off on one side when you indicate and then comes back on when the indicator blinks so you get an amber/red flash and you can't have a rear red flashing light in the UK unless your a fire engine or a police car!
I change it to standard for MOT time.

  7. It looks like just a few soldered joints to do so should be quite easy. I followed my bike the other day on a friends zx9r :) :) and the rear light bulb looked dull.

  8. I do have a high power LED bulb in there already but the silvered reflector is a little blemished

  9. What bulb does it use?

  10. That helps, have you ever thought of moving to Puerto Rico?

They seem to be about £70.00-£80.00 for the OEM connection ones with integrated resistors/turn signal/number plate light, where it is plug and play. Or a bit cheaper just for the actual LED light board and LENS.

  11. Just been looking at high powered led bulbs as a replacement idea but at £20+ I reckon the led light board is the way to go. Integrated turn signals may not pass an MOT and I wouldn't want to increase the risk of being pulled over as I already have a small plate fitted.

Old Rider, thanks for the heads up. The led conversation how ever you go about it is a good one.

  12. £40.00 from emoto seemed like a good deal, which I suppose is how they ensnare you in their interweb. Double that seems a little high...

  13. I'm not sure I paid 20 quid, will try to check.
I have a biposto but have taken off the pillion hangers. It occurs to me that I could use the empty bolt holes for secondary mini indicators to supplement the integrated ones and keep it legal. Not sure that's the route I want to go down though

  14. Which one is that for mate, as i am in the market for one - hate the rear indicators? I can get it shipped to Canada then posted here if need be.

    (seen its the Kapsco one)
