[emoji23] ffs brand new not even registered and it's fooked, went to move it this morn to do a little tinkering, the steering lock is off ie I can turn the bars side/side and no ignition ! So I enter the code, pin ok but all I get is this. Oh well thank god I do have one reliable bike and it's not like I can ring assist, yes sir what is the reg urrrrrr it hasn't got one.
Frustrating! Is this the bike you were selling at one stage?, is there a reason you have not registered & using it? ( on the assumption it works). Isn't the warranty clock ticking?
No the bike I sold was a S-model as i used the money to invest in another bike and at the time ordered a pikes peak however after seeing the pikes peak I thought it was not valued for money so brought a new stock bike and spent the extra on replicating my own pikes peak, at the time I wanted to strip back to basics, less to go wrong I thought ! It's not registered until 1st March, the dealer let me take the bike on the grounds its not used and it's not been used only moved around at my property, the reason I wanted the bike before it was registered in March was to removed the plastics for painting. So no the warranty is not running either because it's not registered its as new as you can get I suppose.
Not sure what I do now tho [emoji57] tbh it may have been like this on collection, they did pdi the bike but Ive never even started it or turned the ignition until today.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, "F*ckin' electronics!" The old ones used to do a variation of this where they wouldn't unlock. I had no problem but lots did. Try spraying the steering lock area in WD40, leave it for a few hours and try again. Might be stuck of have damp in a microswitch or something....worth a shot!
Ive already tried that, the bike is in a dry / warm garage, strangely once I enter the pin code and the dash lights up it states steering unlocking ! But it's already unlocked, then auto powers down stating steering locking when it ain't . Very strange does this replicate the hands free fault ?
Can't say from personal experience. My hands-free was replaced by recall. That was years ago with pre DVT bike. They shoukd have that sorted by now. Sounds like a "back to the dealer job". You COULD try resetting everything by disconnecting battery but that can have undesirable effects with Skyhook bikes. If yours isnt Skyhook, I'd try that.
No 1 will be a long trip some 300 mile round trip No 2 I'll give that a go [emoji106] one of the reasons I went stock was to limit issues and the only thing left to complicate matters is keyless [emoji35]
#2 won't work - had this problem on my 2 month old DVT, and tried this to try and work round the fault, but with no effect. Had to have it relayed to the nearest dealer and had the keyless transmitter replaced under warranty!
Could be the sneaky dealer has set it so it wont work until 1st March. :smirk: Out of curiosity how do you insure an unregistered bike?
Nope that's the antenna for the key, imagine you have lost the key you use the override and enter code the antenna would make no difference.
I don't think they could do that, I did however have to sign a disclaimer, i will not use the bike on a public road. How do you insure it ! Chassis no and a copy of the paid invoice.
That's what I'm using to override the starter, you press it down and it fires up the dash and asks you to enter pin, enter pin, it states Ok then dash States steering unlocking (it ain't locked) then dash powers down stating steering locking steering locking. So that must be the hand free unit I presume. Bmw brought out the keyless in 2014 on there bike and it's been fine, Ducati have been doing it for years now so why can't they get it right ffs .
