I have had my Multistrada for two weeks and occasionally finding a false neutral. I went to the bike show in London at the weekend and the guy on the Ducati stand said that it was a characteristic of Ducati and that you need to be firm with it. Is this correct of should I take it back to the dealer? Ian
Mine gets a fair few, its a long throw on the shift lever so you cant be lazy with it, strange for a touring bike. What you can do is lower the shift lever so you don't have to lift your foot so high to change up. When i asked about it at the dealer they just smiled and said 'the Italians call it character, you're not on a triumph now' No, i know, never had a false neutral on the triumph...
Yes, adjusting the lever sounds a good idea. Also, it might be an idea to check your chain adjustment, as that can have an effect.
I get them between third and fourth on my SF, especially on down changes. A firm foot is required and a correctly positioned lever. I find on a lot of bikes, of all makes, the gear lever is too low for me.
I've said this before and I'll say it again.......I've never had a false neutral on any of my Ducati's. Just be firm and boot it into gear
