  1. I'm sorry? Is that northern speak?

  2. Nice.

Any specific method/paint used for touching up,the flaking engine paint?

  3. I ended up just buying some off eBay. Obviously the 1st lot was the wrong colour/shade so they sent out a 2nd pot which is very close. Just rubbed down the edges with a bit of 400 wet/dry and touched in.

Not perfect but a lot better. I think the only real answer is to drop the engine out but that won't happen for a few years yet.

  4. I hope youre not suggesting that Im northern.

  5. Sorry, no offense intended. Just didn't understand the post.

  6. For touch up you can try a bit of nail varnish that comes in a thousand shades of silver :upyeah: ( just ride your bike into Boots and ask them to match it)

  7. Been tidying up my 748 and its been mentioned a lot but the paint they used is very piss poor quality considering a fairing covers a lot of it and the wiring looms not as good as Jap bikes i've had, but I've had a mate polish the exhaust pipes and they have come out great :)

  9. Yes. Far better.

  10. Thumbs up for the tank cap, gold is much better. Pipes don't take much to polish, i just used some light grit wet and dry, a tea towel, some autosol and plenty of hand action. Your pipes look to not need too much work. My engine paint falls off with a change in the wind, mainly above the exhaust under the engine. How bad is yours

  11. Got some cracking polishing mops as can be seen by the heat shield but they are drill mounted and I find the drill wanders off and the spinning bit hits metal and makes a mess so I'm not touching these beauties till I get a bench grinder to attach the mops too.

Engine paint is not too bad, I've certainly seen worse. I have spotted some overspray on the earth that attaches to the engine so I think a previous owner may already have had a crack at it. You'd really need to be looking to spot it though, the kind of thing you only notice when not looking. Like I just spotted someone has hacksawed the number plate short when looking at these pics so I now need to buy a 2nd hand good one.

  15. The later 848 1098 fuel caps also look good in plain sliver.

  16. Looks loads better with a clutter free tank and gold filler cap. I would go one step further, remove the tank pad and fit the ventudreshield tank kit, factory fresh!

  17. Front brake fluid changed. Front rotar bobins cleaned and freed. New front number board.

    That'll do donkey, that'll do.

  18. You should set up a part time business.. Did you have issues fitting that front number board, has it got any bubbles. If I could get a spare top fairing I'd like one.

  19. My neighbour asked today if I was setting up a business.

Board was a PITA. Looks ok and much better than the one it replaced. 1 or 2 tiny bubbles but you need to look for them. Worst bit is trying to fold it over the edges at the screen and lights. Screen holds it down at the top but round the lights I've red tape holding it on the inside that you can't see. I think I'd do it better if I tried it again.
