Just want check other people opinions about those extra accessories that can be purchased from Ducabike and CNCRacing. I had almost placed an order for a number of parts from CNCRacing and spoke with my Ducati dealer about it. He told me to cancel the purchase and his main argument was that he thinks that when people put all those different colours of accessories the bike starts to look like a luna park. I was a bit disappointed in the beginning especially when I had order the frame plugs and the brake cups and he installed them all in black while my idea was to have them red. Now by the time I feel that he was right and sooner or later I would have get bored with the red. I think it's matter of taste but I understood also that there is some on ground on his opinion especially when I've seen some bikes where it's overdone. What do you guys think?
I agree with your dealer in that some accessories can look a bit bling and out of place. If/when I get any plugs etc. I think I'll have to have them coated to match the frame (or matt black).
I was having the same thoughts about the frame plugs, can't decide to go for Black or Red? If the shades of red are very different (which they probably would be) then it might look odd. I had Silver plugs on my old black frame and they looked fine. I think people often go for Red or Gold as they want the parts to stand out ("look at ME"), but I agree it can end up looking tacky if it's not thought about carefully. You can't really go wrong with black. Remember all those old Gixers with coloured screens and purple bolt kits... shudder!
Your bike, yourchoice. Keep old stuff and stick back on if you domt like it Mine stays std because its a functional bike. No need for extras. My 848 had ohlins gold and carbon all over it. That was a beautiful functional bike lol
They do serve me coffee every time I'd visit, I think it's fair customer service when you've spend over 20k in the shop.
Who's bike is it? Do it the way you like. Cupid, a regular contributor on this forum, recently removed all his CNC parts because the colours didn't match correctly. Had them all re done in 1 go so now they all match, for 20 quid!!!!! Cool move. I got a set from Hong Kong, perfect. Really nicely made in red. However I might get the two plugs that go into the black section of the frame re-anodised black. Just so they don't stick out too much. For me too much bling is not a good thing.
