I meant to put a smiley face on. I have a set on my 996 but I couldn't bare to take them off. You could have my quick shifter though
Thanks Guys. Looks like if I don't want to pay elite superbike parts prices, my hunt may take some time lol
I saw a set on eBay around Xmas time around £600 I was tempted to buy them for a future project. If your patient something should turn up at the right price!!
Hi Steve, What would I need to do in the way of modifying the 1098 forks apart from new calipers, does it involve discs, axle etc ? Thanks
Some good info here. 1098 fork/brake upgrade on 996 - ducati.org forum | the home for ducati owners and enthusiasts You will need an ohlins suitable lower yoke.
@Pfk, I currently have a pair of 1098 Showa forks being rebuilt with a Nix30 Ohlins cartridge kit for my 853 (748R based) track bike. As far as I am aware, the diameter of the wheel spindle that goes through the wheel bearings is the same for both models but the part of the spindle that fits in the Showa fork leg is not so you would need a 1098 spindle. 15mm offset 6 hole discs are still readily available so you can use your existing wheel. I also bought a pair of Brembo M4 radial calipers. The post @Nelson referred to is a great find and has some good information. Andy
Actually you can mate, you need to shave an ickle bit of plastic off the drive unit and use button head screws/bolts to fit the discs .
How do stop it from trying to spin?..as the 1098 forks don't have the retaining lug. Or does the cable kinda stop that?
I honestly don't remember! Mine never span. I used a 916 front wheel with a 1098 axle. speedo drive on the left and a spacer on the right.
I have a mint set of 1198 ohlins that a customer has asked me to move on for him. If they're any use, let me know. £900 buys them.
Thanks Nelly, Think I'm gonna hold out for some period correct forks or maybe some R&T units, so I can use my existing callipers Thanks for thinking of me though. All the best
