  2. I was gonna suggest relocation.

I just can't imagine, that of all the places in the world you could live, Nottingham would top the charts. But I'm not sure I've ever been to Nottingham, so for all I know, it could be the Paris of the UK. But if it is, they've done a good job of keeping it a secret.

I have two friends who relocated to Canada. Sounds like a great plan, if I wasn't already pretty pleased to be living here.

  3. I plan to leave the UK in the next 5 years..was already hoping to be gone but i split from the missus and you know the rest. looked into Australia but it was a nightmare, even with a sponsor..i should have been a carpet fitter.
Canada is too cold and too much like America culturally. I love the scenery in the states, im just not a big fan of yanks, and i hate american culture..very cold, uncompassionate, ill informed and right wing.
I fancy Spain (not ex pat spain) or Italy. I love both countries and their cultures ('cept the bull fighting). Italy is probably the most beautiful country in Europe..It has a bit of everything. Alpine mountains, lakes, rivers, endless beaches, hot summer sun and extreme catholicism.

  4. Bull fighting is almost done in Spain, I was in Barcelona last year at the time when they had the last bullfight in Catlunya, the main arena is now a shopping centre.

+1 for Italy, I lived there for many years when I was younger and if I didn't have a 'life' here I would be back there tomorrow.

  5. I used Rosetta Stone (till got bored) and it works.

  6. Clean your inbox funky.

  7. A friend of mine has lived in Rome since graduating (a long time ago). She reckons the completely dysfunctional nature of existence there does her head in. It's a nightmare to get anything done.

As regards beauty and variety, France is pretty hard to beat. Mountains, sea, beaches, amazing food, all sorts of different scenery from foggy north to rural Burgundy to Provence. Great food, top wine.

Only downside is the French, but at least they're nice to bikers.

  8. I don't know, you've got to admire a nation that can piss the Yanks off that often and that well

for what it's worth I took German and Swedish language evening classes at my local 6th form college. My German is workable but adequate for essentials, my Swedish is.....less so

  10. Hello

I would advise that you first of all do not worry too much about grammer.

Learn basic sentences and work on vocab. Aim for what is called 'airport english' or in your case Spanish.

I used to watch foreign films in original languages with original subtitles.

Do a bit every day, say 20 mins and above all don't give up. Once you break its back the learning is exponential.
