I'm supposed to be picking my new 1200 S Touring DVT up this afternoon, but am struggling to get it insured. None of the online companies list the Multistrada 1200 S Touring as a 2015 onward model. They list a 2014 model, which isn't the right one, and they ist a 2015 onwards 1200 (non S) model, but not a S model 2015 onward. Dealer told me to call Ducati insurnace, and guess what, their list is the same! No 2015+ models listed. Anyone else had issues with this in the UK?? Here's the list of bikes from Ducati Insurance' website. The only one that's close is the top one "Multistrada 1200 S" but it's listed as a 2015 only model. The lady said they only have one model listed that states the letters DVT, and that's the D-Air model.
I have called Ducati Insurnace El Toro. As I said, they're list is the same as others. It's their list of bikes in the attached image above. A bit of a mess of models and years without much continuity. You'd expect the insurance industry to a least get the model variants correct.
Ring Ducati Insurance back & labour the point (politely). Ring all the other companies that you got a competitive online quote from. Persist & I'm confident you will sort out cover. Congrats on the bike, Enjoy!
Hastings and Carol Nash told me that if I insure the "wrong" bike, then they won't pay out in the event of a claim. They said that if the right model isn't listed, they can't insure it. I wonder what model every other 2015+ DVT S owner has their bike insured as.
I don't think its officially called a Touring, its just a Multistrada DVT 1200 S, mine was insured no problem with a number of companies via the comparison sites and eventually insured with Devitt. If you want, you could list the panniers and topbox as extras?
That is the Non S version. Ducati Insurance ended up checking into this properly and said the S model DVT is the top one in my attached photo. There should be a dash after the 2015- meaning it's 2015 onwards. Got a good price with Ducati Insurance in the end, despite spending most of the day faffing about with various insurance quotes. Picked the bike up last night, shot home and put it in the garage, and have been away since. Desperate to get home to have a proper look at it! Thanks for the help guys.
