There are anti-trust laws governing the conduct of business which have global application. Unfortunately, it can be a minefield locating where collusion between businesses has occurred - much like it is difficult to work out where Starbucks coffee shops located in the UK derive their income from. Tricky sums.
Surely one of the 2 houses (where is the other one?) is in a village in Oxfordshire. It would have to be a really big fuck-off place for it to be worth at least £1.6m. That sounds about double what it's probably worth. Still, we'll let that go. I just don't reckon you could rent out a house worth £1.6m and expect to get $240k rent a year on it. I'll bet you can rent houses in Belgravia for £20k a month, but you wouldn't be able to buy them for £1.6m. I think a lot of the figures in the picture are invented. How do we know he has £35m in savings? Is this a wild guess or in the Panama Papers?
You've not lived in the UK for a while, have you? I can show you "nice" houses near me (and not what I would call big fuck off places) that are £1.2-£1-5m.
yip. its free. and being taken advantage of and criticized all at the same time. thats quite some property portfolio he has there. why haven't ALL the BUM been running story's regarding it daily for a 6weeks then started a rerun of the same story three months later? why arnt they all calling for his resignation including the opposition. after all its a figure several times higher than i have seen his partners in crime calling for others resignation? pots and kettles, hypocrisy and selective blindness where ever i look at the mo.
It is only free if you have less than £23k in assets. But in the Socialist Republic it may be different Anyway we digress.
They're already 90. I'm hoping we are going to be able to avoid the whole care thing. My grandmother popped her clogs whilst living all alone in a huge and draughty house. Way to go.
My mother was effectively forced from the home she loved by social services, into a rest home. She fought against the move, wanting to remain independent, in the place she felt most comfortable. Mum spent the last two years of her life punishing my sister emotionally for this forced move, as she felt it was all my sister's fault. After my mum died, my sister had a serious mental breakdown. Thanks, social services. You never fail to make life better, do you? If someone wants, demands, to live in their own home until they can no longer look after themselves, and then die there because they can no longer look after themselves - why are we interfering? It's one of the reasons why I hate the UK so vehemently.
Exactly - and although I have no wish to defend Cameron in general (for instance the £9million leaflet business today) it's not sensible to cite the example of his salary of £146K - quite apart from the fact that this must be very low for a PM by global standards (and as well all know, considerably less than that paid to many other senior public servants), it is of course taxed severely under the UK regime - it's high enough that he gets a £zero personal tax free allowance, and no Child Benefit, and then he must pay 20% tax on perhaps £40K and 40% on the rest (plus NI) so at a rough estimate he has to give back heading for £60K of it!
Sobbing my heart out here. Still, you don't get into politics just for the visible income ... that'd be crazy.
Oh, I don't know... Jeremy Corbyn has made a reasonable living out of it for a long time; I don't think he has ever actually had to work as a Geography teacher and he'll retire on a pretty decent pension!
here's a summery on the subject it contains a wee graph of British involvement The Panama Papers – Road To Somewhere Else taken from here The Panama Papers · ICIJ
is the camoron gonna last the weekend? i think so and nor am i calling for it. i think he is doing me more good than bad. looking at the bigger picture.
Calling for a resignation is tactic that should be used sparingly and only when there is a remote prospect of success, with Labour calling for resignations is like a stuck record.
He hasn't done anything to resign about. You have to get real. Of course his family had trusts or something. They all do. Have you seen how much Eton costs? People can't be surprised. They voted the Tories in and they know what they are like. Now, if all the Labour front bench turn out to have offshore funds, that would be a different matter.
