  1. Hi just noticed oil caked around front left side of engine - she hasn't been out much lately, but with season approaching I want to get this sorted.

    Any experienced similar?

  2. Firstly I would give it a good clean and see if that helps identify the sauce.

  3. Yeah Birdy I will do! After pics wouldn't show the oil leak as clearly! About to clean her up now!

  4. Thanks Steve I think you may be right bout the gland nut. Sadly can't take it for a run - no MOT - it's tomorro! Will take her then!

  6. Right - finally a dry day and got her out for a run!! Oil leak is still showing :-(
My question is what is the large Allen head plug for as I think it is the cause - maybe a failed washer there?? Mr R can u shed any light??

It's the one my finger is pointing to!

  7. A blanking screw; As the crankcases are common to various models e.g. 900SS/Monster, the ignition pickup cable passes through a plastic gland (like the one to the right) fitted in there.

  8. worth checking the oil pressure switch. They can blow quite easily and will result in a small leak

  9. Shirley the oil pressure switch is on the other side of the engine...?

  10. Undo it.See if its tight or a bit of cack in there.
